Hadrians Wall and Carlisle within easy reach

Found the site easily from the M6 by following the site book directions. The site is very well maintained with the grass cut like a bowling green, EHU's are on all sides of the site so it's easy to pitch as you wish. The site is situated on the junction of a minor B road with the A6071, so some road noise can be expected however the night we stayed there was during haymaking time and tractors were travelling along this road almost constantly, but during the night we were not disturbed. The site is halfway between Longtown and Brampton (51/2 miles either way) Brampton is by far the the most interesting of the two towns with a couple of pubs, takeways, and cafes along with a Spar supermarket. parking is free (2 hours) with a disc which can be obtained from the Post Office without charge. The local beauty spot Talking Tarn is worth a look at, and Hadrians wall is not far away, in fact Hadrians wall footpath crosses the A6071 at Newtown just a couple of miles from the site. carlisle is also only 7 miles away. The nearest Pub is at Smithfield 1 mile but there are no footpaths along the A6071 and they don't sell food. We did find a Pub at Laversdale which did food and very nice it was too. Would we stay here again most certainly yes in fact we did so on our way home from Scotland, and will do in the future.
