Ease of arrival/welcome

Disappointed

Our first ever exeprience of a caravan club site. Manager not very welcoming, more concerned with getting our money and tellng us off for not going straight to the office on arrival! Later in our stay we were asked when we were leaving and it was clear that she had got our booking wrong having expected us to leave the day before we had booked to leave and more or less implying that she had expected us to be gone. Not the friendliest of welcomes. It was a very cliquish site, everyone seemed to know each other but it didn't embrace new people. The site itself was a boxed in field needing mowing, it was mowed whilst we were there but cuttings not collected and in the heavy rain was messy. Strimmers were constantly going and the man doing the strimming forever looking to see if we were still there as our pitch was now overgrown and we were obviously in the way! We found this site quite oppressive. It didn't have any views, was quite noisy, the noise of trains and road was fine as we expected this but disturbance from grass cutting (incessant noise from strimmer not being used correctly). The Plough Pub down the road was brilliant and friendly, total opposite to the sites welcome. Showers were clean and tidy. Washing up area sheltered. This site was quite elitist, we inadvertently parked in a 'Gold Customers' parking space and was immdediately told to move it as it belonged to 'Gold Members only', an innocent mistake but didn't make us feel valued. Site is clearly a place where people live permanently on boats and we were the poor relation staying on their patch, won't be back.
