Wonderful site

We have been there for 5 nights and days, it was lovely. The owners and the neighbour were very friendly and helpful, we had problems with our Van and they helped us. We were given tips for things to do, so we enjoyed the surrounding. A short walk to the seals in the habour or to a bird hide, lovely walks on the coast or to the Castle of Mey... There is a fantastic view to Dunnet Head, the Castle, the Isle of Stroma an the Orkneys. There were all facilities we needed (water/waste/chemical disposal) for a very fair price. We really enjoyed the peaceful stay and would recommend this place. We'll come back!

Luogo tranquillo

Quiet stopover

Stayed here for 1 night when doing NC500, friendly owner and nice flat pitch, was very windy when I was there but was given pitch in front of garage which sheltered me from the wind. Easy to find, just be wary of approach road that is like most of the roads up there, the potholes are big, would stay again.

Nice stop over

Conveniently located a mile or so just off NC route but still nice and peaceful. Friendly welcome on arrival from host and info on location attractions and cycle routes. Peaceful nights sleep, spacious site for 5 units, all facilities to a good CL standard, would happily stay here again if in the area. Stayed September 2021.

Peaceful place to relax

This is a good site, very friendly welcome from hosts, with offers of help if required. The site has all that you need, fresh water, waste disposal, recycling and peaceful (if you ignore the cockerel,) views of Stoma island, Castle Mey and Dunnet Head on clear days. A short 15 min walk to Harrow harbour to see the seals or 200 yds to end of lane and maybe see the odd seal there. A bird hide and lake are a short walk too. A 30-45 min cycle ( for us casual holiday cyclists) to Dunnet Head, maybe a bit hard going if you haven't got electric bike but plenty of people were cycling up. Also can cycle to Dunnet beach. Noticed this site gets used for overnight but it is worth staying a couple of nights in the area, we stayed 6 nights and just enjoyed the peace and surroundings. Would definitely stay again if we were to come this way again

Feel the atmosphere...

Dec 2018. One night stay on a mini tour round the sharp end of Caithness. This CL is ideal for the travelling motorhomer. A safe and wonderfully basic site for these not needing all the trappings of caravan sites. Short walking distance to the seashore where we saw seals and seal pups on the rocks. Roe deer in the fields when we woke and flocks of curlews overhead.

Basic but everything we need

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst travelling the NC500 in our motorhome. The site is level and offers water in and out, plus black waste disposal area. Basic but everything we needed and a fantastic price. A warm welcome was received with a nice leaflet created by the owner with ideas for walks from the site. Amazing views across to Orkney. The weather was very windy when we stayed, the site is exposed but we had good shelter from a storage shed. The chickens and ducks wander around free range, our dog was mesmerised by them. Eggs are abailable to buy. Lots to do in the area, we filled 2 days easily. Nice walk to a small harbour where you will see seals at low tide. You can also take a day trip to Orkney, There are deer in the surrounding fields, lots of birds including owls and hawks.

Tranquillity

A lovely tranquil site off the beaten track. Well kept grass site, but firm. Lovely owners who made us very welcome. Value for money. Would recommend this CL

Peace and Quiet

Just what we wanted from a CL, peace and quiet, a level grassed surface, rural location, easy access to walks and local interest sites. There are the basic services, fresh water, grey waste disposal and chemical toilet disposal point, you can also buy fresh free range hen and duck eggs, provided by the poultry wandering around the site! There is no electric hook-up, which we were not looking for as we have a good leisure battery and portable solar panels. The site owners are very friendly and helpful. The site is a couple of miles off the THURSO to John O'Groats road and a short 30 minute walk from The Castle of Mey. We were treated to a couple of spectacular sunsets and the site overlooks the coast and Dunnet Head. If you want an all singing and dancing site with the usual C&MC bells and whistles then go to the Dunnet club site, but if you want real peace and quiet in the relaxed atmosphere of a rural location, the this is the ideal site for you. Highly recommended for 'proper' campers!
