Free Range Site

A reasonable size CL field (1 acre) with free-range chickens running about. No electric hook-up available so at £10 a night it may be considered a little expensive but vans are free to pitch as they see fit without restriction. Very handy for local beaches at Wells, Holkham and Brancaster. The CL field is on the opposite side of the road to Leith House itself and while this initially looks to be a quiet single-track lane some large farm machinery used it at very high speed so if you have young children bear this in mind as it's easy to wander from the site to the road without drivers seeing you until the last second. The squashed hen we saw on the road is evidence of this. Grass was quite long when we visited at end of August but I suppose if it had been cut without collection then more would have trailed into the van. Site is adjacent to a plum orchard so depending on time of year you may be able to stock up on a punnet or two of plums or damsons from the sales stall (although again, even though it's close, if you choose to negotiate the single track lane to get to it on foot you may find yourself running for the verge.) Drinking water is handy for all with the tap by the field entrance but strangely the cess pit is in a totally different corner of the field to the toilet rinsing point which necessitated some trudging back and forth through the long wet grass.
