I think the last reviewer must have been on a different site! We arrived at this farm CL and pitched up on one of the hardstandings with no difficulty. Mrs Watson called the following day and she was a very pleasant lady who we chatted to for some time. After paying our £14 per night (we had paid £20 deposit) we only saw her in passing and were otherwise left alone. Basic facilities as per most CLs with waste water emptied in the hedge/fence/wall boundary. A horse in the adjoining field was no bother at all but a few dogs did bark when disturbed - but it a farm after all. The site is directly next to the Teeside Railway Walk and we walked to Barnard Castle (9 miles) one day getting the bus back with a busstop at the farm gate. High & Low Force waterfalls are also within walking distance. It is about 3/4 mile walk in to Middleton in Teesdale and we can recommend The Forresters Hotel for an excellent meal. The Crown at Mickleton is a 20 min walk along the Railway Walk and serves excellent food also. The Conduit Coffee Shop in Middleton Village is also excellent. All three venues offered an excellent choice of gluten-free options. You could easily spend several days on this site without using a car if walking is ok for you.
