Touring holiday of Skye and the Outer Hebrides

Just back from 2 weeks in our motorhome, friends and family joining us along the way - have stayed at 11 campsites, with varying facilities. As previously mentioned, do not be put off..... This site has all you could ask for - water by each pitch, all with EHU, quirky chemical waste disposal, toilets, electric shower (no running out of hot water) and wifi included in the price. Dog frienly. Stunning views (weather permitting), walking distance to the pub- Old Inn (with fantastic food), Talisker Distillery and a short drive to see the Fairy Pools and other walks. There are only 5 pitches, so it's quiet. Excellent location for touring Skye. Can recommend you stay here, we had a lovely time, despite the weather and left with amazing photos of waterfalls from the burn next door, too.

Don't be put off...

The pictures of the site don't tell the full story: yes - it's basic, yes - it looks a bit like a car park, yes - some cars have to turn around here as they've missed the turning to the Fairy Pools (just have a chat and point them in the right direction - or put the cones out). However - despite all this, we loved it and chose to remain here for 10 days. It's a quirky little CL with character - we can't wait to come back.

Campsite of last resort

Site feels like a neglected lay-by. There is no gate to the site, you pull in straight from the road. Whilst staying there several cars used it to turn round. The site is mostly unmanned, which creates problems as non club members pull in and stay overnight. The owners board outside could be misinterpreted as an open to all site as the members only sign is easily missed on approach. Unfortunately during one night of our stay the owner allowed three non members with campervans to park in close proximity to members vans, even though the site was at full capacity. Unfortunately these campers were very noisy and disturbed other members. We did complain and received one night's refund. We were very disappointed at the seemingly lack of C L standards.

We found Mr Sutherland very warm and welcoming withs lots of information of the local area. Best wifi connection in the Highlands that we found. The site facilitates were clean and very adequate, lots of hot water. The view of the loch was lovely, and we would definitely return to stay at the site, perfect for visiting the area.

Worst CL we have ever stayed on

Arrived and located a decent sized Hard standing pitch. Toilet/shower adequate but in need of tlc. Site full, however 3 more outfits allowed on site, blocking us in and 1 outfit 3 feet away from us. The noise from the 3 parties was horrendous, possibly Spanish? Had absolutely no respect for others and had to be asked at 11.30pm to keep it down. Van doors slamming and continuous loud conversations. Started again at 5am. Owner no where to be seen. Left site a day early and won't be back.

Lochs of fun!

Greeted on arrival by smiling and jovial owner. He made sure we had access to all the site facilities and the view we wanted.  He gave us guidance on the best times to visit the more popular local attractions, and introduced us to the true nature of Real Sky Weather! i.e. if it's raining or misty now, it will be brighter later, and vice versa. Forget the weather forecast! A real gem

Skye CL Site

One of the best CLs we have stayed on. The pitches are generous in size. All are hard standing with their own electric and water tap.The veiws down the full length of Loch Harport are magnificent. The facilties are clean and well maintained with a supply of toilet paper, hand wash and hand towels with plently hot water. The shower cubicle which is large and heated is separate from the toilets and hand basins. The  owner is an interesting and friendly elderly gentleman. The location is excellent for touring the Island. We stayed thirteen nights.
