Gorgeous

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome. We really enjoyed our short stay here, sometimes taking walks directly from the site, sometimes driving to walk elsewhere in the area. We did have good weather and we were able to make the most of it. Our only regret was having to leave. An gorgeous place to stay.

Lovely peaceful site

We have been coming to millfarm for many years .so thought it was time to write a review.it is one of the most beautiful and peaceful sites that we know of.Ian and Jane the owners are really nice and friendly nothing is to much trouble for them the views are amazing as is the area. The site is immaculate you could not wish for a better CDP and Wast water point .the toilet is always very clean the area is brilliant for walking and there are numerous cycle trails If you want to go shopping Bakewell and Buxton Are nearby.TheBullshead pub at Monyash does amazing meals could not wish for a better site .The only negative about Millfarm is that you have to leave it. Peace and quiet

This is a lovely site and so peaceful. We like to cycle and the owners are very friendly and tell you the best way to go so as to avoid the steepest hill. We will most certainly be returning to this site. People in other vans were very welcoming and gave lots of useful information.

Great site

We stayed at mill farm for a weekend, unfortunately we were the last van to arrive and got the pitch right next to the telegraph pole, as previous people have said the access is tight with a big unit but the area more than makes up for this, it is a great base for touring around the Peak District & you can walk directly out of the back of the site down onto lathkill dale & into Monyash, the Bulls head does fantastic meals & there is a great cafe next door as well, will definitely be returning

Enjoyed our visit- careful with the entrance

This was our first stay in Derbyshire which we enjoyed; the scenery reminding us of the Cotswolds in a different colour! As others have noted, check your route approaching though I'm always surprised how well A 100Hp Vectra estate towing 1200 kg tackles 1 in 6 hills! Regarding the entrance, the trick with a longer unit is 1) pull past the entrance 2) reverse into the field on the opposite side of the drive and then 3)drive onto the site. Leaving is a simple case of reversing these instructions. The site was well kept and the toilet was clean and adequate if not salubrious! Our pitch (5) was level though it might be problematic if you wanted to fit an awning.

Worth a return

This was our first visit to Mill Farm but will definitely return.  Follow the directions on the website and you will find the site with ease.  On arrival we was greeted by the owner who showed us the facilities and explained about accessing the field with larger units. Use the space available as its tight driving in and out.  The site has amazing views and is very peaceful. It is well maintained and the facilities are a good standard. Plenty of places to walk your dog or to walk further afield if you wish.  We only live 50 min away and will visit again.  I bet it's lovely on a frosty morning.

Wonderful CL, peace and quiet with stunning views

This was a return visit to this beautiful CL. The site is very well maintained, it is in a wonderful location with superb views from the caravan and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We love the peace and quiet and the access directly from the site to walks in Lathkill Dale and beyond. The location is in the heart of the Peak District with Bakewell a few minutes drive away for shopping or sightseeing. We will be back!

Lovely site and friendly, helpful owners

We took our two young kids to this site in August and had a lovely time! The owners were very helpful and the site was beautiful, well cared for and peaceful. We took the far pitch so as not to disturb people and enjoyed the space of the site without (hopefully!) disturbing people too much. Fantastic access to good walks with lots of different animals to keep kids occupied! Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic CL

This is our second visit to this wonderful CL, in a wonderful location. The owners are extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome and they keep the site immaculate. The walks straight from the site down to Lathkill Dale were great and if you are up for a slightly longer walk, Bakewell is well worth the walk.  Can't wait to visit again. Thanks very much.

Nice site but 2 .....

We are the other couple mentioned in Oakterrace's review. On approaching the site we were coincidently followed in by the owner who then directed us to the (in our opinion) very uneven pitch. When booking we had checked that it would be ok for our son, daughter inlaw and grandson could sleep in the awning for 2 of our 7 night stay. When we commented that the ground was very uneven in places the owner said "oh they will be ok !" . He then left us to get set up. After a good half hour of trying to get level with the aid of 2 of those large yellow plastic ramps and wooden blocks and with a by now smelly clutch I gave up and sited our single axle van about 5 metres in front of the pitch with the aim of moving onto a better pitch next day as we had established with neighbours that they were leaving next morning. I should add that we are regular ralliers and often site in uneven fields and are not just used to "tennis court ground". Late in the day the owner came across and expressed his dissatisfaction but after a discussion he reluctantly agreed we could stay put just for one night as long as we moved next morning. He also added that he had no problems when siting his own caravan on that pitch and his caravan was a big one. We duly moved next morning but when our friends joined us later he said they would have to go on that pitch. This they did and by staying close to us with their small 2 birth were able with effort to get level. During our stay we also spoke to another couple who had been directed to that pitch prior to our arrival and who had refused it. In summary I would say that in my opinion certain outfits can get level on that pitch but if you had a mid to large van and wanted a full awning up then you would struggle to get a "good" setup. We marked the peace and tranquillity down slightly purely because on 3 of our 7 nights there was significant noise and some swearing from the commercial site just up the road. However it did not go on after 12 pm and was of course not the fault of our site owner.
