Stayed here for one night just to give our new motorhome an outing and to check everything was in working order. We were very pleasantly surprised at the standard of the site. Given the wet weather we have had it was pretty clean underfoot, hardstandings were good and well spaced out, and Rita kindly suggested we put our motorhome on the car park rather than one of the available hardstandings which were a bit puddly and of course the grass was very soft and muddy. This was fine, we were able to hook up and also be closer to the fresh water tap. Lovely views over the fields and a pretty thatched bird feeding station right in front of our window. Rita was very welcoming and we bought eggs and cakes from her shop. The shared toilet is attached to the shop and house, a minute’s walk from the site, and was clean and warm. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the chickens, ducks and cows on the farm, and also loved the two cats and cute little dog. The local pub is only 0.7 miles away. We walked to it both in the evening and for a very good Sunday lunch, but be aware there is no footpath and the road is moderately busy so it involves lots of jumping on and off the verge, and good boots and a torch are recommended. There are lots of good walking options from here, although very muddy at this time. We would certainly like to return and spend more time in the area.
