Ease of arrival/welcome

Wow!!!!! But...

Breathtakingly spectacular views: the mountains, the sea and local countryside form the 360 degree stunning views with wonderful sunsets too. Anglesey is fantastic (free parking at most beaches). Too many CLs are enclosed and feel claustrophobic – this is the complete opposite!  John and Sarah are wonderful hosts, with daily visits to check everyone is alright and not in need of anything whilst also respecting your privacy. He happily helps to set up and level vans on arrival, comes to say goodbye and thank you for your custom on departure: also a caravanner himself. He allows his friendly and clearly well-trained dog, Jess, to roam freely on site, she loves kids and will play ball with them for hours.  However, we booked and expected to be on a CL. On arrival there were already 5 vans on site and earlier on this year a “paddock” area “overflow” had been created adjacent to the CL in an L shape. It is in full view with just a wooden fence separating the two with the facilities and site entrance shared. I fully appreciate that this has become a popular site not only due to the aforementioned views and hosting but also because of the well-kept toilets, showers (£1 a time and gave plenty of time for a good, warm shower) and large games room available (with pool table, table football, PlayStation, table tennis, books/magazines, sofa, and space for younger children to play). The site is very neat and tidy. There are also a couple of picnic tables available too along with water to every pitch and grey waste available on some as well. The CDP is neatly fenced off with a tap for rinsing out.  But this site is simply too big and really ought not to be advertised as a CL as there were frequently more than 5 vans on the CL section during our stay of 18 nights (the most being 9 units on the CL at one point). John and Sarah are in danger of spoiling what they have. We came wanting a relaxing and peaceful rest away from everything and chose a 5 van site because we work intensely with people all day everyday and want/need the break from being around too many others. Instead we suffered from the busyness of so many vans on site with all the associated noises from people and pets along with disturbances of comings and goings. At one stage there were 13 vans across the whole site and still had EHU and water points available for even more vans!  With the small pitch size (as per water tap allocation), proximity of vans, a large tent, and blocked views (we had 4 vans lined up in a row in front of us at one point!) at times this made for a very claustrophobic stay, and our holiday wasn’t all what we had hoped.  I guess the proof of the pudding for a site is whether or not you would return and we genuinely have mixed feelings about this. It wasn’t the peaceful relaxing location we had hoped, but the location, views and many other things most certainly were.
