Spring visit to Newark Farm.

This is an excellent CL with a large flat and hard pitching area with great views over and down the Nithsdale. Although the site is less than 1/4 ml off the main Dumfries/Kilmarnock road, the A76, there is very little traffic noise. There is a good dog walk along hard farm tracks down to and beside the river. Lots of wild life to be seen with plenty of rabbits and birds about the site. There are a few small shops/mini supermarkets in the town, well within walking distance. For anyone who requires a major supermarket the nearest are at Cumnock, about 18 mls away, in one direction or Dumfries nearly 30 mls away on the other. There's plenty of good walks that can be done from the site and for those who are interested in history, Sanquhar has it's own ruined castle, and futher afield there's Drumlanrig, the historic home of the Duke of Buccleuch, where there are also waymarked trails for walking and off -road cycling, and Dumfies House. Both are well worth a visit. This is certainly a CL that we'll visit again in the future.
