We stayed 4 nights in a motorhome and yes it is sloping and tricky to get level. We had a lovely welcome with fresh eggs and local information. We gratefully accepted a lift to Durham station for the train to Newcastle on Saturday morning for a tour of the football stadium and a rooftop tour which we can recommend. As we don't like to take the motorhome off site we found the buses easy to use and can even get to Beamish on a Sunday using 2 buses. Walking to Sacriston via the bridle path and through the woods was much better than the lane to Witton Gilbert. All in all we would highly recommend this site.
