Lovely site

We received the kindest welcome from Mrs. Gallimore, a most delightful lady. The site is slightly sloping but does not take long to level as there are plenty of blocks available. Any effort put in is well worth it as the views, peace and tranquility are exceptional. We recorded a good variety of wild birds around the site including tree sparrows, as opposed to the much more common house sparrows; always a pleasure to hear their constant chattering. The obvious local attraction is the Beamish open air museum but slightly further afield and within easy reach of the site some seven miles away, is Tanfield Heritage Railway. What a lovely experience. The staff, all volunteers, were so helpful and knowledgeable, the line is beautiful, in my view, an absolute must do.
