A quiet few days

Signage for the CL was very well hidden. So far set back into the gateway that it is very easy to miss. Once up the drive there is no signage at all to direct you into the CL field. No hardstanding and the slate chips track only goes halfway into the sloping field. Pitches not well marked. No lighting at all outside the toilet and shower after dark. Toilet and shower were fine, cleaned regularly. Owners very keen for payment on arrival but not in evidence thereafter. We never did manage to find anyone where the chemical toilet disposal is. There was pleanty of signage with rules, but none giving information. Beautiful area but we would not use this CL again.

Review

Great views, fairly quiet, no sheep around pitches but they don't know how to use the toilet disposal properly! Pottery well worth a visit if you're looking for gifts for home. Great sausages at Country Harvest on the way to Ingleton via Burton.

First class natural CL

I have just spent a fortnight on this CL and found it absolutely delightful. I found little to no evidence of sheep on the CL however there were some in the field at the front of the farm in a separate field that were very friendly and once they were aware that you were not there to harm them they came to you and allowed you to stroke them. The field that contains the cl is a natural field but I levelled my twin axle van just using my levelling ramps. I found the length of the grass to be great as it had not been cut and gave the cl a perfect feel. O.K. the site is about a 1/2 mile walk from the village but when wanting a country site you do not wish to be in the town. There was plenty to see and do in the area and I found travel from site to the Lake district, Yorkshire Dales and Morecambe Bay very easy. As the previous reviewer said it is a working farm as in sheep are in the fields but at least there is no farm machinery on the site to disturb the peace. Now and then you may be woken from a nap by a visit over head from a euro fighter or other fast jet as they return to British Aerospace in Lancashire or one of the Air Force basis in North Yorkshire. There is on site recycling and the toilet and shower down at the Pottery block were very clean and tidy. The site fee of £10.00 per night including electric hook up is great value and I would recommend this CL without a doubt.Thank You to Barry and Kathy (the owners) who explained about the friendly sheep and for the look around the pottery. We will definitely be returning soon Damien & Annette Davies - Turner Any similarity to a comment on a previous review is purely down to the fact that I thought I was writing the review there. OOps

pottery workshop

great views, further to get to site than you think out of the village.careful not to miss site sign-look for pottery sign-fairly sloping field-no hard standings.sheep had been allowed into this fenced off part of the field and left there deposits behind.yes i know it is part of a working farm but that small piece could easily be kept separate and the grass cut via machienery.it is already fenced off with gates.welcome? well that was none existant and payment left with someone in the pottery.this was gleaned off a sign that said pay at farm(up road )or pottery.good shower/toilet rooms.great for west yorkshire/south lakes/morcombe bay
