This site has had a really good makeover in the last 12 months. The pitches have all been enlarged and re gravelled and there is now space for an awning as well as your 'van. The waste disposal area has also been enlarged and tidied up as well. Many of the trees/bushes have been cut back or removed so there is now more light and sunlight. The new manager John and his team are so welcoming and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. If you have got kids there is a huge picnic/games field down by the lake with tables and ample space to run around. Fabulous walks from here, (you can forget the car for a fortnight) both low level or up to Helvellyn if you wish. . Plenty of wildlife too, red squirrels ( which we didn't see this time) and deer come onto the site which is rather lovely. While you need your own shower and toilet, there is a laundry for use by visitors. If you have not been for a while it's well worth giving it a go. I'm sure we shall be back again before too long.
