Excellent CL for Anglesey beach

Pen-y-Llyn has two sites – a 5 pitch CL and a more commercial site with 15 pitches. The two are quite separate apart from sharing the access road into the sites. All pitches are well maintained & wide/deep stone hardstandings with power & water points at each location. The grassed areas were well maintained and there was a welcome secure dog walking area to allow the hounds to run free. As others have said, the beach is about a 20 minute walk away but then you have a wide sandy shoreline all the way to Rhosneigr where there are shops & hostelries. It is also a “dog friendly” beach. One thing to be aware of [& we should have read Catherine’s welcome pack!] is that there is a creek running across the beach near Rhosneigr which needs to be forded! So be prepared to get wet feet! The closeness to RAF Valley does mean that there is quite a bit of aircraft noise during the weekdays with the planes doing circuits. This could be a bit intrusive if you were on site all during the day but we were away for most of our time there and they don’t fly at weekends. Overall, a lovely CL with caring & approachable owners who ensure that you have a pleasant stay.

Just Amazing!

Spent a long weekend at this site and couldn't have asked for more. Fabulous aerial entertainment, from the fantastic RAF on the Thursday and Friday. Then in total contrast, piece and tranquillity Saturday and Sunday. Catherine met us with a warm welcome and ensured everything was in order for our stay. The surrounding area is great too....Rosneiger beach and South Stack to name just two great places to visit. Would definately recommend this site and we will return soon.

Great site with free entertainment from RAF planes

Definitely hope to return to this site we had a fabulous week and ended up staying for 2! That has to be a good sign.  Each pitch has own water/waste.  Tidy and clean toilet waste area. Good location for local beach a 20 min. walk away down quiet lanes. A hotel 5 mins walk from site for drinks and meals out if you so wish.  The nearby road can be busy for morning commuters (Mon-Fri) but doesn't affect site.  Good location for exploring island and it's great beaches and easy to get to off J3 A55. Big supermarkets 10 mins away down A55; Tesco and Morrisons; both sell fuel. The local training RAF base is nearby and the planes do cause some noise disruption (hence 4*) but you do get use to it and they are amazing to watch, we really enjoyed them flying overhead and they did not affect our adventure of Anglesey or site.  Would definitely recommend this site without hesitation.  They are super dog friendly and adults only too, have a new dog walk on site which is good for first/last morning/evening doggy business. Could do with a few more sites like this on the network!  Lovely couple running it and very helpful, you are doing a great job may it continue!

We'll be back!

We booked onto the CL as I had work in Bangor on Thursday so we decided to stay the Wednesday and Thursday night. We arrived at about 8.30pm and were greeted by Catherine even though it was freezing cold. The welcome was lovely and she helped us with the pitch as it was also rather dark. We received a welcome pack which had every bit of detail you'd ever need regarding the local area including RAF Valley which couldn't be missed as they were in the middle of night practice when we got there (which was brilliant!) Catherine pointed the lights of the Cymyran Hotel which was a lovely short walk away (and the welcome there was just as good as at the site) The pitches were lovely sized, level hardstandings and fully serviced - we couldn't believe it was only £15 a night! There have 3 little "sheds", a ladies, gents and information room along with a herb garden and the usual disposal facilities. The views were amazing and the site was lovely and peaceful when the planes were not in the sky - we didn't mind one bit though and loved being able to stand under the Hawks as they twisted and turned above our heads, even the dog enjoyed it! We never got to the beach so that is on the list for our next visit as we will definitely be back. One thing i'd like to mention from a previous review is the list of "rules" in the welcome pack - yes you can't wash your caravan or car (you can't on any CC site..) and yes, they'd like you to keep your dog on a lead (just as you do on any other CC site) but they gave reasons why, which personally I like rather than blanket rules "because I said so"..  All in all - the welcome upon arrival, the well laid out, spacious pitches with full facilities, the planes, the views, the nearby hotel and bar all will be bringing us back to Pen-Y-Llyn - Thank you Catherine for a lovely stay.

Fantastic site.

Stayed here recently for 7 nights. This was our first visit to Pen-Y-Llyn and we were impressed by the warm welcome we got. Catherine went out of her way to make sure we were settled in and make our stay enjoyable. Access to the CL site was fine, we have a twin axle caravan 7.5metres long and it fitted in easily. Pitches are spacious and fully serviced. Site is spotlessly clean and well looked after including the toilet which was cleaned and had clean towels daily. Loved the use of the free Wifi, gave us chance to keep up to date with home/work. Stunning views all around the site and within short walk to dog friendly beach. We have recommended this site to friends and will definitely be returning. Thank you Pen-Y-Llyn for a memorable holiday.
