Excellent site!

This is a lovely little site in quiet, beautiful surroundings, a very homely setting. The amenities are all in good order and very clean. Mrs Hood, the owner, is most welcoming and friendly. It is conveniently situated for accessing many places in Cornwall.

Most beautiful CL in 50 years. What a find!

This is a beautiful CL. Pitches are at different levels surrounded by magnolias, camelias, rhododendrons and spring flowers. Pheasants wander around the vans and there are many birds in a variety of trees. Visitors can wander around 2 1/2 acres of garden laid out like a NT garden, leading down to a stream. We had no problem using the motor mover to pull the van off the grass onto the drive to hitch up, and then take the van up the drive to the lane. There is a spacious toilet/shower area (tokens) and fresh free range eggs. It is very handy for Truro/ Falmouth etc. There is a Spar shop at the end of the road. Why use a big site when for £14 you can have all this? We stayed 8 nights. Thank you Mrs Hood.

Great little site

Returned to Penolver exactly ten years from our last visit. still beautiful, Mrs Hood(Bunty) made us very welcome. We now have a 23ft caravan which is perhaps as long as you would get into the garden. Basically the cl is the garden of a very nice house on the outskirts of Truro. Shower and wc are stark but very clean, 30p token required. The only noise is the Cockerel in the next field. There is quite a steep driveway in and out but I managed this morning reasonably easily to tow my van out. Nearby bus stop at Playing place for buses into Truro or Falmouth some ten minutes walk from the cl. Plants and eggs for sale.Well placed for visits to Sw Cornwall.

Beautiful setting but...

We stayed here for four days in September and, while we agree Mrs Hood is a lovely lady and very welcoming and her garden is a delight we would say that access onto and off the pitches is not made easy due to the steep drive and pitches which become soggy when it rains. Unless you are on the hard standing pitch which faces directly onto the steep drive a 4x4 is needed. We nearly came a cropper trying to get off the pitch and up that drive, almost slipping down onto the caravan facing the drive. The heavy duty motor mover couldn't cope with this, and we were using a car with an 82% match the couple who left the day before also had problems getting off. For this reason we won't return although it is so lovely. It's also the first time we've been asked to pay an extra pound a night for having brought a car! Well, we couldn't have got the caravan there without. We had to laugh, it was just so funny.

Heaven on earth

This is a wonderful CL in Mrs Hood's amazing garden.  We have just returned from a 12 night stay. Mrs Hood is a delightful host, never intrusive, always helpful. The site is so peaceful and it was lovely just to sit in the garden and enjoy the peace and quiet.   There is easy access to the site and there is a very good Spar shop within half a mile as well as Asda near Falmouth, Tesco and Sainsburys in Truro, all within a 10 minute drive.  Close to NT properties and the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, there is plenty to do locally. Would we return to Penolver? Oh Yes!

Lovely site

This is a lovely site with secluded and quiet surroundings close toTruro.  The atmosphere was always friendly and helpful and Mrs Hood was always willing to help with anything. The shower and toilet were more than adequate and always clean. You can also buy fresh eggs laid by her hens - delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks here and would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the area. Tony and Kate
