Lovely and local

We stayed here so as to introduce my husband's sister, partner and dog to the delights of this part of Lincolnshire as well as a meal in the local pub which we have been to ourselves on several occasions. We were greeted at the entrance by the owner whilst we were filling our water tank, and told we could pitch up where and how we liked in any of the remaining pitches. We pitched up facing the sun - bit of a mistake as it was so very hot for the 3 days we were there - but not to worry. My sister in law was able to pitch adjacent to us. As we all like to get out on our bikes we cycled to Horncastle on the first day via the Spa Trail - easily found on Google Maps - stopping for ice creams at the Big Chair in Horncastle (highly recommend) before heading back on the trail and on to Woodhall Spa for liquid refreshments at the lovely Petwood Hotel and then The Inn. Day 2 we cycled towards Stixwould and got on the Water Railway (NCN1) at the old railway station - and headed towards Lincoln, stopping at Bardney (again for liquid refreshment) before continuing on to Five Mile Bridge (Lincoln was just too far for my sister-in-law). We cycled back getting off the cycle path at Woodhall Spa, stopped once again for liquid refreshments (a staple) and then back to Kirkby on Bain. Normally on our rides we would have seen an abundance of wildlife - but it was so hot the birds/deer etc must have all been in the shade somewhere. The road running adjacent to the CL was quite busy during the day, but come the evening was very quiet. This CL is very well kept and dog friendly, For cyclists the roads roundabouts are pretty quiet. The Water Railway goes all the way to Lincoln in one direction and Boston in the other - and is lovely to cycle - especially on a calm day (it can be hard work if in a headwind). For those interested in RAF history it is the ideal location - as it is ideally situated for visits to the BBMF at RAF Coningsby and Woodhall Spa and all its associations to 617 Dambusters Sqn. The Kinema in the Woods at Woodhall Spa is also worthy of a visit. The Ebrington Arms is well within walking distance - and serves up lovely food - as well as having strong connections to the RAF - especially World War Two. We booked the site via their web site which was extremely easy, as was payment - which I agreed could be taken off my card once we arrived on site (I had to enter my card details when booking).   My sister in law paid via BACS - though cash was also accepted.
