A little gem

Stayed 4 nights as a base for some local cycling. The Newent Cycle Loop is especially good but there are loads of other options. We'll be back next year to do the loop again and explore new areas. Plenty of space on the field and it's level and quite firm. Surprisingly quiet considering there's a road running parallel to the field. A refreshingly unfussy site. Be aware that it's easy to miss the turning into the site if coming from Upleaden. It's first entrance on the left after the first road on the left after Upleadon.

Hidden gem near Ross and Forest of Dean

From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome, with 2 children and our pup. Michelle explained things very well and recommended where to pitch so as not to go completely under the trees and risk falling branches. Our children loved looking out on to and going over to see the young cows. A couple of lovely walks right from site including one within the grounds itself with views over to the Malverns and Bredon Hill in the other direction. Also the Newent loop is very good to do on your bike. Talking of which Newent is very convenient just down the road with 2 CoOps, pubs and a couple of Chinese takeaways. We will be back when venturing that way again.

Great Cl and very friendly

Myself and my Wife stayed here for three nights what a pleasure, Michelle runs a very clean site well kept grass pitches with plenty of space between each pitch. We were given a warm welcome from Michelle who asked us if she could help show us the amenities, however they were easily found. Michelle offered us Apples off the trees and Blackberrys from the bushes. We enjoyed cycling around the area on the Newent Loop very interesting sites along the way and cycle route well marked out. Newent very pleasant to walk around it’s a small village with lake just off the car park in the centre. I would recommend this site to all who like a flat easy access site and enjoy great cycling in the area or just to visit the lovely places within easy reach IE Ledbury or Ross on Wye.

Lovely clean flat & well maintained site

Lovely clean flat & well maintained site with much needed shaded areas for hot days - we arrived and left in a heat wave. Spacious pitches and the site is convenient for Gloucester and Forest of Dean walks and other attractions, with bridlepath very close for dog walks. Very friendly welcome from Michelle the site owner who ensured we had everything we needed on arrival.

Just what we needed.

Lovely, quiet and spacious CL with very helpful lovely owners who were very obliging and went the extra mile for us. No frills site and you have all you need when you have your own facilities. Watched birds of prey in the trees across from the pitch every day. Totally awesome. If you don’t want peace and quiet surroundings, don’t book here! Will definitely visit again.

Repeat visit - just perfect base

We've now stayed three times with Michelle, lovely welcome and a great level site; so peaceful. We enjoyed watching the young cows wandering round the field opposite. Local garden centre (and more) Trioscape is well worth a visit. Great coffee and cakes! "we'll be back"

First Class CL

Many thanks to Michelle for going the extra mile to contact us while we were virtually "off grid" to warn us off a road closure which rendered the CL inaccessible until late on the day of arrival. She was there with a warm welcome when we did eventually arrive. Access is good, the pitches are spacious and only slightly sloping. Water and chemical emptying point are within easy reach at the end of the site. (we didn't need it but the on site toilet was closed at the time) As previous reviewers have commented the Cl is well maintained. We have not rated the access to local places of interest as it was only an overnight stop on our way back home from South Wales and didn't have time to explore. Hopefully we will return to rectify this! Michelle told us there was no rush for us to leave before 12 noon as she was not expecting any new arrivals.

Perfect location for a peaceful few days

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3-nights here, arriving around 1600 on Friday and leaving around 1800 on the following Monday with a pre-arranged late check-out. The booking process was simple and easy with the host Michelle being super helpful with both directions and recommended places to visit (eat). The journey from south of Birmingham was very good, even though we arrived at the site from the North (M50 J2), the lanes were very narrow but fortunately no traffic, we left from the South and this was much more accommodating. Site itself was beautifully maintained, with super well-spaced pitches and a lovely view into the fields. Behind the pitches is a small field which buffers any noise from the little traffic there is. We visited the Forest of Dean and took a lovely 5m walk with the dogs from Speech House, Coleford. We also had an equally lovely walk along the River Severn from Arlingham, with a pint at the Passage Inn afterwards. There’s a great triangular running loop (2.6m) from the site, virtually traffic free. Michelle was the perfect host, always answering our questions promptly via Messenger. Will definitely be back for another visit when we need to unwind again.

Excellent CL and a good base for seeing the surrounding area and is ON a cycle route.

Porch House Cl is an excellent base for visiting Newent, Ledbury, Hereford, and The Malvern Hills. The welcome is excellent and you are free to choose your own pitch of those available. The pitches are spread along a 1 acre strip field (as shown on the CMT CL Photo)all with pleasant views. The pitches are well kept, wide and large but be aware that although there are five electric hook-up connections these are on EHU bollards on Pitches 2 and 4 - so you may need a LONG lead to reach your chosen pitch. The Site itself is excellent although the toilet unit was closed at the time of our visit so you may well need your own facilities. The entrance to the site is good although care needs to be taken when leaving as visibility of the road is limited. I would recommend approaching the CL from the South if towing a caravan as the northerly approach routes are a little narrow and somewhat bendy. Our Garmin Camper SatNav showed the northern route but the Club website describes the more southerly approach route which, fortunately, we took. Newent is a nice small town with butchers, grocers, cafes etc. It also has quite a pretty lake which is worth taking a stroll around. Hereford is about a 40 minute drive away and well worth the effort to see its architecture, cathedral and take some time to explore some of the smaller streets that house some quite nice unique shops etc. Ledbury is only about 20 mins drive and is one of those small towns that has all manner of different shops and cafes which sell things that you don't normally find in bigger centres. For cyclists the CL is on the route of the Newent Loop -a 28 mile loop which nominally starts and ends in Newent and it can be tackled as two separate 19 mile loops if you wish. Our stay was for three nights and it is a CL that we will certainly visit again.

Super CL

This was our first visit to Porch House but will definitely not be our last. Run by a very welcoming and friendly couple Michelle and Rob. Well kept and generous sized pitches all offering scenic views. The site is also quiet and peaceful, shared with Rabbits and Munkjac deer. Ideally situated to visit many of the best locations this area offers. Highly recommended.
