Sunny May

A well maintained ½ acre of grass that runs alongside the Woodford Road with panoramic countryside views South across the road over the Somerset levels towards Glastonbury Tor and North across a field with cows in it toward Wells and the Mendips. The caravan route from the Garden Centre off the A39 to the site is fine. Access off the Woodford Road is through the owner’s electric security gate and past their house (called The Paddock) which overlooks the site. The entrance is a little tight so care needs to be taken with larger outfits. The owner made contact beforehand to find out what time we were arriving so the gate could be left open. On arrival we were given a remote control for the gate, tips and instructions on walking into Wells and some freshly baked ginger cake which was very nice. The site was in view of the road which is a few feet lower than the site and separated from it by a low hedge (lower than in the photos). When vehicles are not passing by it is blissfully quiet. The Maple Tree and Rustling Tree pitches are the closest to the road. The Rustling Tree and Ash Tree pitches benefit by having more space and trees beyond them. All pitches have plenty of sun including into the late afternoon and evening. Line of sight to a prominent mast above Wells ensures very good TV reception. The water and recycling arrangements are modern and well laid out. With care the local roads are quiet enough to cycle and walk along and, with a map and compass and suitable attire, there are some cross-country routes to explore on foot. In addition to its views, the highlight of this site is undoubtedly Wells, which is delightful and can be reached on foot. It is well catered for with supermarkets – Morrisons (incl. fuel), Tesco, Lidl and Waitrose. The area has plenty of other nice places to visit by car.
