Ease of arrival/welcome

Quite nice

In the interest of fairness, the weather arriving and whilst we were there was horrible and it is hard to be enthusiastic about a view through driving rain. This site is a farm shop/orchard/animal rescue/ small holding/caravan site. The owners are absolutely delightful people who are kindness itself. But the site is a bit eccentric. The entrance is through the farm shop/farmyard entrance, extremely well signed from the road. And Roger and Shrrie donned their yellow jackets to hold up the traffic so we could get out. But once in, you have to negotiate past other customers parked cars and it was a bit chaotic when we arrived (& it was pouring with rain which didn't help). The site, at the gate end, is VERY sloped and we were not given a choice of pitch. Although we carry ramps, they were not enough and we had a Heath Robinsonish set up with the lumps of wood the owners Provide. Short grass but lots of rabbit holes. The view is fabulous (when it stops raining). The noise from the road is very obvious but didn't disturb us, but we weren't sitting out (raining!). There is a massive orchard, two lakes, two summer houses to enjoy (when it isn't pouring) and you pretty much do your own thing. In the sunshine it would be great. In the rain it is a bit challenging. The water tap is in a bush, filling up after rain means inevitably getting soaked. The loo and shower are a bit - well basic (men and women with just a bit of a screen between) and didn't cope well with the rain either. We didn't use them. Grey waste goes on the orchard, chemical waste has its own point - under trees. Another dripping experience in the rain.  There are only five vans on at any point, but there are another two vans permanently sited (and in the nicest and level part of the site too). It was potentially a bit hairy getting out of the field as the entrance was getting quite churned up - we were fine, but others leaving a day later were starting to worry. It was as pleasant a stay as five days in pouring rain can be, but I don't think we will be back.
