A Lofty Retreat

We stopped at this site for two nights in September 2014 on our way back home in order to spend a day at Ludlow’s famous ‘Food Festival’ just ten miles further north of the site. The approach to the site looks a little daunting at first glance but in fact is very easy and road of ample width and the access drive that leads uphill to the site is good tarmac. Once you arrive, a quick welcoming chat with Mrs Pugh at the farmhouse and onto your pitch. The pitches are hard standing with electric hook up. Water and waste facilities are in the field corner and shower and toilets in one of the out buildings. From this lofty site you can gaze across the open fields below and on into Wales while you relax in this haven of peace and tranquillity, broken only by the sounds of chattering squirrels and odd songbird. This is a great base to explore the surrounding area too, with Ludlow and Leominster nearby as well as the countryside. We really enjoyed our short stay and will certainly return for longer periods in the future.

Remote

This CL does have wonderful views and is very quiet. Yes the wcs are clean, but shower costs 50p!! The CL was overcrowded the first night of our stay. The bus stop into Leominster is over one mile away along a narrow lane, so we had a lift into the town which is 3-4 miles away. The taxi back at tea time was £17.00!!!!!!!

A Little Gem!

We stayed here as a stop-over for 1 night on our way up to Chester. This is a lovely little site with such amazing views! You really feel as though you have got away from it all within moments of arriving. We did not venture far because it was only a stop-over for us, but the site is really easy to find with good access to main roads.....if you are looking for peace, good views and a chance to unwind...this is the place!

Peaceful

We have just returned from using this site for three nights. Very clean well kept site, the owners were very friendly and informative. Toilets were very good clean and tidy, did not use shower as we have have a very nice wash/shower room in our caravan. Views were spectacular, the early morning chorus was great and the variety of Birds was good to see going about their ways. Will visit again if coming across this side of the country. Great site very well done, thank you very much.

Such a relaxing site

We have just spent 4 nights at this CL.  Absolutely lovely!    The views are beautiful and all you can hear is the distant hum of a tractor and the birds.  The toilets are very clean, with a swap book library outside.  Didn't use the shower as used the caravan.   Very friendly and National Trust places to visit nearby.   Great site and will be back when in this area.   Thank you  !

i'd like to say don't go here so i can 8 -p

Please don't go to this site, it's much to good for you so you won't like the lovely views or the nicely kept toilets and shower or the welcome or the pitches. If you all go then i might not be able to get back there and i wouldn't like that so please keep away. :-) great site will be going there as often as poss.

Blossom time

Visited this site when the cider orchards were in full bloom and the countryside was looking beautiful. Great walking direct from the site using an OS map, lovely views and friendly owners. There was no one there when we arrived but a note at the front door told us where to pitch. Overall a lovely weekend on a clean, well kept, quiet and rural site.

Lovely CL

This is the fourth CL we've stayed at and is, by far, the best. The toilets were, for a CL, great (in our experience). Clean, serviceable and plentiful (well the male ones were, there was just one in the ladies for some reason). The shower was decent and worth the 50p charge...or so my wife and daughter say. The pitches are reasonably sized and all hardstanding. There is a small children's play area and a large open area for children to play. The owners are really friendly and were very understanding that we had to cut short our stay due to illness. The location is lovely. All pitches ( except the one by the play area) look out over spectacular countryside. The one next to the play area (which we chose to stay on) does have great views, but the hedge restricts the best views. There are a couple of NT properties close by and some lovely countryside to walk in. We will be going back to this site.

A pitch with a view...

Site is on top of a hill, and every pitch offers amazing views in the Ludlow direction! Owners friendly and helpful. Pitch sizes are not generous, but this isn't a real problem, as there's plenty of room to maneuver if you haven't got a mover. Plenty of loos, but we used the van shower due to the time of year (late Feb) and the small extra charge. Well placed to visit the many lovely places in north Herefordshire and south Shropshire. We did a lovely circular walk from the site passing through the orchard to Bach Camp Iron Age fort using footpaths and quiet lanes.

Helpful and very Welcoming

This is a wonderful CL site with amazing views, the pitches are hardstanding however we had to pull onto the grass to reverse onto the pitch we chose, much to our horror we got stuck on the grass both car and van. Luckily the owner and her husband were there to come to our rescue pulling the car back onto the path then the van (Jags aren't the best for traction) the shower and loo were quite basic but very welcome and very clean, the town of Leominster is only 2 miles and is a lovely town with some quaint buildings. Overall a lovely site which we will definately visit again.
