A little gem

We were greeted by the friendly owners to this quiet, well kept and conveniently situated site. It is ann easy 20 minute walk to the Yacht harbour at Heybridge Basin with its Tea Room and 2 pubs. There is a bus stop about 5 minutes walk away with regular services to Maldon and Chelmsford. Facilities are modern and clean. We thought the metered EHU a great idea, and the site charge £18 per night very reasonable for this lovely site. Would definitely recommend.

Great little find

My wife and I stayed here for two nights, it has 4 grass and one hard standing pitches all with power hook up, you have to put in £1 or £2 coins. The toilet is okay (very clean) and the shower is all new. You have to put in a 50p for 6 minutes, the shower works very well and is nice and hot. At £18 per night I can see why the owners ask you to pay for the electric, The pitches are quite big so that’s a bonus as most CL sites they are small. The owners are very accommodating and very polite. This is a fantastic little site not to far from Heybridge basin and Maldon. You with not be disappointed if you book this site. Highly recommend you book early as it can get busy.

3 Lovely Days/Nights

We stayed at Saltcote Hall in our Autotrail Tribute 625 m/home for 3 nights from 27/2/23. Easy to find and good access via concrete track & shingle drive. The pitches are perfectly level and we were told grids were available if the ground was soft but, even in February, this wasn't necessary but best check with the owners if there has been very wet weather. Very peaceful site, particularly as Essex is not considered the quietest county in the country! The toilet and shower was spotless with, praise be, an air hand drier powerful enough to remove your fingernails. A short walk to the River Blackwater coast and excellent walks into Heybridge Basin or out towards Goldhanger and further afield. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. A great site

Nice little site

Nice little site with plenty to do locally, dog walks etc. Only let down by the shower/toilets still being closed. Most other sites are open. If you are going to close them then please make a note on here so I can go elsewhere next time.

A long weekend away in Essex!

Saltcote Hall CL in Heybridge, Maldon in Essex Great little site ! Stayed for four nights, pay for electric by the meter which was no problem and hardly used a £1 daily, so don’t worry..The entrance is nearly opposite a lane that takes you to the River Chelmer Blackwater navigation, and the car park is free where you can launch your kayak, sup or canoe or walk along the river bank. Fab pub and river cafe too Not far to Mersea Island if you fancy the coast 🛶 Very relaxing 😌

Good well located site

The site is well located a short walk from Maldon and Heybridge. I was initially concerned about metered electricity but used less than £4 over three nights. There was noise in the afternoons and early evening from a nearby sports club but nothing too intrusive. We didn’t use the toilet or shower so can’t comment on those but the site itself is well kept and level. I can recommend the lock tea rooms and the Jolly Sailor in Heybridge and the Barge tea room in Maldon. The Thames barge trip was good fun.

Great little site for a short break

We've just returned from a 4-night stay at Salcote Hall - an ideal location from which to catch up with friends and family in Maldon (where we lived many moons ago). A delightful, well tended CL with grass pitches (we had a call on our way there to let us know which pitch we should use, as two pitches were waterlogged). Made to feel very welcome, and visited routinely each morning by the bunnies and the ducks. Had plenty of £1 coins at the ready for the electric meter, but used less than £2 each day, despite having the heater on each evening. For visitors new to the area, I can recommend the Lock Tea Room and Jolly Sailor pub at Heybridge Basin (free car park at Daisy Meadow), the Queen's Head on the quayside in Maldon and the Chequers Inn at nearby Goldhanger - dating back to the 15th century with a varied history as a smuggler's haunt, coach house and alehouse - and some of the best pub food in the area. Fresh local produce is a short walk away at Jacobs Farm (including yummy Tiptree strawberries). (Note for CMC - this CL is listed incorrectly on your website as Saltcote Hall, so Salcote Hall cannot be found on your search engine).

Comment from the CL Owner

Thank you for your lovely review. Our site is actually Saltcote Hall, as listed.
