Basic and expensive but quiet and lots to see and do

We definitely have mixed feelings about this site but overall would not come back. At £12 a night its an average cost for a CL (but from our experience this usual includes electric hock-up). We knew electric was coin operated but not how much this would cost, and how much this bumps the price up. We stayed on site for 5 nights, and due to the cost of the electric we ran our fridge, heating & water on gas - so the only things on electric were the TV, lights and occasional cooking, a few times we watched the meter and it was spinning really fast. The cost averaged out at £5 a night for electric and then the cost of the gas which would have been another £2 to £3 pound a night meant it cost us between £19 & £20 a night - we could stay on a caravan club site with all the luxury they offer for pretty much the same cost. Definitely not good value. As others have said the toilets are very basic, no soap, only cold water, no way to dry your hands and loo roll sometimes! When it was replaced the owners only ever left 1 role for the 10 adults on site (the site was full each night we stayed) (we just took our own rather than get caught short). There are also no lights round the toilet block so very bleak if visited after dark (bring a torch). The showers were 50p which from what others said required 2 x 50p to allow enough time for a proper shower. The washing up sink again had no hot water, so difficult to get things clean. The site was fine, close to a lot of places of interest, museums, various water ways, the Basin, pubs, shopping and lovely restaurants, we liked the area and would definitely come back but alas not to this site.
