3rd Time Unlucky

We stayed here twice last year & found the owners very welcoming & the toilet/shower clean & more than adequate so we had no hesitation in booking for a couple of nights again at the end of May this year prior to a journey down to Cornwall. I rang to book just over a week prior to our stay and spoke to Mr Cannon. We arrived at 2ish but there was no-one on site to meet us, so I went to house and saw Mrs Cannon to paid the balance of our fee and she advised me where to pitch our Motorhome. After settlng up, my partner nipped to the loo & saw a scratty notice stuck on the door with a sad face emoji informing that shower was not working. I returned to the house to see Mrs Cannon who advised that the boiler had gone well over a week ago and they were waiting for a plumber to return with a part to fix but had no idea when this would be. I asked why her husband had not mentioned this when I rang to book and why she had not mentioned it to me when I had spoken to her a few minutes ago. She apologised but didn't really seem interested. After a discussion with my partner we decided because of the lack of facilities just to stay the one night . I returned to the house, informed Mrs Cannon who reimbursed me for the 2nd night. Later that afternoon I nipped to the loo , and noticed that the sink around the taps was full of limescale and certainly hadn't been cleaned properly for a while. There was also a dirty looking frayed bit of rag purporting to be a hand towel - It was a disgrace !!! We stayed the night but couldn't wait to leave the following morning. This is a sad sequel to pleasant memories of our stay last year.

Comment from the Club

Thank you for leaving a review. The CL Owners have been in touch as they want to address the concerns raised in your review as they work hard to ensure people have a great time on their site. Unfortunately during your visit 2 months ago there was a problem that had just happened with regards to the boiler in the shower block. The plumber had been called out as a matter of urgency but they had to await for parts to arrive before it could be fixed. They were more than happy to refund you for the nights you cancelled and are sorry this affected your stay. They would like to assure you and other visitors to the site that this has now been fixed and people have since visited and left very positive reviews below.

Very, very good.

Shower out of order all week, busy week for tippers going back and forth to the quarry but let's be fair £13.00 per night is excellent value for the size and condition of the site, peace and quiet after office hours, and a basic but clean WC and a warm welcome. The quarry traffic was apparently unusually busy but people have to make a living. The only down side was the fact the farm is on sandy land and it was a very dry week. You choose your favourite between wet weather or dry weather with dust off the track but ours is the fine weather. Location is excellent being only 3 miles or so from a shopping park (retail park to most of us) with an Aldi - there could be other supermarkets but Aldi was the first one we saw. There is also a well stocked shop and 2 pubs in the village. can't rate the pubs as we don't use them. NT properties and Cotebrooke Shire Horse Stud within easy driving distance. Park and Ride for Chester is only a few miles away and the cost of £2.00 per person (car park free) is very good (York for example is currently £3.10 per person). We will most certainly be back.

A great find

What a great find, great size pitches, beautiful well tended borders, fresh eggs daily, and 25 minutes to Hooton Station to save driving into Liverpool, just £1 parking all day. Will definitely return whenever we are up this way again. Many thanks 😁👍

Great site

For purely selfish reasons I would like to be able to give this site a bad review. I don't want anyone else to know how good it is. So then I could book it, and go back whenever I wanted to, without it being fully booked We stayed in June 2017 for 1 week but we should have booked for longer, there is so much to do and see in the area. There are some wonderful walks in the area. Liverpool and Cheshire Oaks shopping center are near enough for a day trip. The site itself is very well kept, plenty of room and really quiet. the owners are very helpful and friendly. Can't wait to return, but this time for a much longer stay.

Excellent Stay.

We had another great stay at Sandy Lane Farm. Very warm welcome from Les and Mandy with regular (but not intrusive) visits from them to make sure every thing is ok. The information shed is great, borrow books, magazine, dvds, also bus timetables, fast food leaflets (with recommendations). Certainly will be back again. Thank you Les and Mandy.

Just Perfect

We have been a number of times and will continue to go back again and again. It is the perfect site if you want to feel like you want to get away from it all, yet you are close enough to the shops etc. The owners are friendly, welcoming and very accommodating and we can't wait to return there.

Lovely site but...

We had a lovely stay in March last year. sorry to say the ground was very soft and we required help to move the van on and off site. Also had to park some distance from pitch awkward with my disabled wife. However if the weather was drier I would not hesitate to revisit. Overall good site and value for money. Owners could not have been more Friendly and helpful. Great place for walking the dog.

Great Welcome

Picturesque CL site with plenty of space. We had a wonderful greeting from the owners who showed us where everything was. The toilet/shower was a little grim, but by no means the worst we have seen. Good access to local area.
