Pub & canal site

Spent 6 very enjoyable nights at this site recently. The owner at Saville Town Marina was very keen to send us photos of the site before we set off. He was also keen to assure us that although the site is accessed via an industrial street it is an attractive site. We assured him we'd seen the photos and read the reviews and knew what to expect. The photos tell the truth; this is an attractive site. A small marina with well maintained narrowboats moored up. A very pleasant pub serving well-kept beers. We visited 5 out of the 6 nights we were there and every night the beer was exceptional. Yes, the industrial street is a bit grubby but once on site you forget they are there. The old Victorian factory buildings wouldn't look out of place in the Stroud Valleys and that's what you see from your 'van. The more modern built units are out of sight. From here we visited Wakefield (Hepworth Gallery), Leeds, Saltaire. NT Nostell Priory, Dewsbury itself. Could have done more walking locally but simply ran out of time. It's amazing how stunning some of the local towns are. You can appreciate their wealth back in the day. Lovely old Victorian buildings waiting to be cleaned up. And Dewsbury is starting to do that now with Heritage Funding. Appreciated the blunt advice in the loo "Washed your hands ? Cleaned the sink ?" Hope you enjoy as much as we did.
