A great short stay

As others have said, the hosts here are very friendly and helpful. Everything was very well maintained and well organised with spacious pitches.

Lovely in all areas!

Superb site in a great location. Owners were more than helpful from booking through to check-in with plenty of information given about the site and surrounding areas. The site is immaculate, flat, well kept and easy access to water, EHU, waste disposal and rubbish. Beautiful sunsets over the nearby church and wonderful ducks and geese!

Lovely stay, owners are fab

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Shingle Farm. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, almost part of the family. David and Susan were great from the get go. Easy to chat to, full of good local knowledge which made our stay relaxing and fun. The site is well maintained (David takes great pride in his grass!), quiet and welcoming, with facilities as you would expect. We had lunch in the garden of the Star Inn overlooking the Church, lovely. It's just a short walk across the field, or an easy 5 minute bike ride. Also enjoyed a 10 minute bike ride to the beach where we had the best fish and chips on the beach from a fishmongers in St Marys Bay - on Susan's recommendation. Lovely and quiet at night and with no light pollution, sitting under the stars with a glass of wine was just brilliant. We'll definitely be back! Nigel and Cathie 14/9/21

Excellent CL-very well run, friendly, helpful owners (caravan)

David & Susan gave us a very warm welcome. Booking was so easy with very fast response to e mails; excellent communication before & during our stay. Nothing was tooo much trouble. The site was very well maintained, level which was important as I have mobility issues, grass well cut & collected. Water points etc were easily located. Excellent security with a key coded gate & CCTV. Access to some very interesting sites was very easy. Ideal for cyclists & I was able to use my wheelchair bike. Our dog was made very welcome. David was very happy to answer any questions that we had about local amenities. We will certainly be back. Recommend St Mary's Bay for dog walking & lovely sandy beaches Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway-which actually goes as far as Dungeness Rye Nature Reserve & bike trail Rye town to look round The Pub at St Mary in the Marsh-serves a wonderful Lamb pie Thank you Carole, John & Bumble

The best grass pitch

David and his wife give such a warm welcome. The site is always absolutely immaculate and the grass pitches are lovely to stay on. No grass cuttings lying around. It's easy to find dog walks from site, and there are so many places to explore at a leisurely pace. Very highly recommended and we will definitely be back in spring if not before.

First class in every respect

I echo so many of the reviews below about this CL which, together with its owners, David and Susan, is first class in every respect. I don’t think I have stayed with more accommodating and helpful hosts in the last 12 years of staying on CLs up and down the country. This is a highly-organised and immaculate CL in a quiet and unspoiled part of Kent. David and Susan both went out of their way to make me feel welcome and to share a wealth of local tips and ideas for days out. Nearby towns and villages such as Hythe and New Romney are lovely. Dungeness is a stunning windswept nature reserve which is almost other-worldly and well worth the flat cycle from the CL along the coast path, or a ride on the fabulous Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Light Railway. The local pub is 15th century, can be accessed on a short signposted footpath from the CL (David kindly gave a map when I arrived which was excellent hosting), and serves a selection of local real ales and the best lamb and mint pie I have ever eaten, period! Well worth a visit there if you like good old fashioned pub grub and a pint without having to worry about driving back to the CL. I really hope to return to this hidden gem in the Kent marshes. Thank you David and Susan for your beautiful CL and hospitality!

A 1st class and very well run C.L.

From the initial booking and communication with David, the co-owner of the site with his wife Susan, I got the impression it was a very well run, clean and tidy site.On arrival David was there to greet us and run through a few formalities. We were given a choice of pitches and advised accordingly.Although the site has no toilets or showers this did not in any way detract from our stay. The location ,space available and tranquility are second to none and the surrounding area is ideal for those that like cycling on flat quiet roads and only 1.8 miles from the sea at St.Marys Bay. We will definitely be returning -thank you David and Susan for making our stay such a pleasant experience!! Geoff and Ann Selsey

Relaxing and beautiful

Would highly recommend! Perfectly organised booking, and an extremely warm welcome from both David and Susan. It was lovely that they went the extra mile giving us a local map, and always available to ask questions and give top tips. The site is beautifully kept and flat, with a few dips here and there, but plenty of space to find a good base. The ducks were an added bonus keeping us amused (they are kept separate from the camping field, so don't worry!) Thank you both for such a lovely stay!

An excellent base to explore an unusual part of the UK

Yes, it's a rural site and all the better for that, but rustic it is not. It is immaculately kept. Great for easy cycling and walking with lots of interesting places readily accessible. The proprietors David and Susan are friendly, informative and helpful, readily available but never intrusive. We rarely consider returning to any site we have visited. This will be an exception. Highly recommended.

Awesome stay with great hosts.

Arriving at Shingle Hall farm was more like visiting old friends than checking in to a certified location. David and Susan were the perfect hosts and were very friendly with lots of welcome tips regarding places to go in the area. The farm is within the Romney Marsh area and there are many beaches within a small distance. There are many takeaway shops and pubs in the area serving traditional food. Sainsbury's supermarket in is New Romney for groceries. Dungeness is around 8 miles from the CL along the coast road and is well worth a visit. I enjoyed it so much here that I have rebooked for October 2021. Many thanks David and Susan.
