Why stay here ...

This quiet, rural, adults only site is surrounded by farmland on Romney Marsh, Kent. Pets are welcome. It is a large, well-maintained, flat, gated paddock with five electrical hook ups (16 amps). There is ample space for awnings etc. There are several good village pubs within walking distance. Access from the New Romney or Dymchurch (A259) is excellent and is our recommended route.

The site is within two miles of beautiful, sandy beaches. There are various small supermarkets also within two miles of the site. Ashford and Folkestone both offer larger supermarkets and shops and are a 20 minutes drive, alternatively take a ride on the little train from St Mary's Bay (1.5 miles) to Hythe for other larger supermarkets and a mooch around the small, independent shops or take a leisurely stroll along the Royal Military Canal.

We have our own small flock of ducks and gees and sell uptra-fresh, zero food mile eggs to visitors.

Romney Marsh is a flat, sparsely populated, wetland area. It covers about 100 square miles (260 km2). The history and topography of the area is fascinating and many visitors have realised they needed more time to explore.

David and Susan who have lived in the area for over 25 years and would be happy to assist you to ensure you get the maximum enjoyment from your stay at Shingle Hall Farm.  They are avid and experienced caravan and motorhome owners.

Visitors come to this area for numerous reasons and to list but a few:

  • Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (1.5 miles)
  • Sea fishing at Dungeness (8.5 miles)
  • RSPB Nature Reserve Dungeness (8.5 miles)
  • Port Lympne Zoo (8 miles)
  • Dover Castle (22 miles)

Nice quiet site and well maintained

Shingle Hall Farm
Booked in for a quick weekend break. Communication with Dave was great and he supplied lots of useful information when we booked. The access to the site is fine....the country road is a little narrow for two way traffic but it is a quiet road and not too long so take your time and it's no problem. The camping paddock has lushious grass, it's clear Dave and Susan take pride in their site. Surrounded by fields, it's a fairly flat 30 minute walk to the seafront at St Mary's then along the beach to Dymchurch ( you can follow the road or go across the fields). The Hythe, Romeny and Dymchurch train is great and has a request stop at St Mary's if you don't fancy walking further to Dymchurch.... Worth a ride to Hythe and Dungeness. Both Dave, Susan and their cute dogs were great hosts and was nice to meet site owners who wanted to engage in conversation beyond the basics. Overall it was a very relaxing few days!

Peaceful Retreat

Shingle Hall Farm
We stayed here for the August Bank Holiday weekend. What a quiet and tranquil site. David and Susan were so welcoming. The sunsets over the Romney Marsh were stunning and it was a short walk over the field to a lovely local pub. I would thoroughly recommend this adult only site for a peaceful and enjoyable stay. Thank you David and Susan, we will certainly be returning.

Relaxing stay

Shingle Hall Farm
5 day stay at this wonderful little site, very rural and quiet. Booking was quick and easy, by phone and email. Friendly welcome and explanation of services etc, David also gave us a local map and pointed out places of interest which we used extensively. The access was easy, the site is all grass, very well kept and flat. The local pub is just under a mile, dog friendly with good food. We walked and cycled out every day with so much to do and see we will be returning. Thank you both for a really relaxing, enjoyable stay.

Shingle Hall Farm
recently pulled into a site the owner came and greeted us very nice!!!!! than proceeded to lecture both my wife and i for the next five minutes about all of his rules ending with if we use to much electric and we will be charged and make sure we turn off our awning light at night because it upsets his dog how a yorkie could see through wall and over a hedge i had no idea, we both just said what a sad way to run a site, next day we went out came back to find the site had suddenly became a 6 van site so much for his RULES now going to report him
