Short break visiting friends nearby - Wonderful CL

We stayed here for 3 nights this July and were extremely pleased with the site. The owner is very friendly and helpful and the location is very picturesque. Added to that you have lovely horses being cared for and ridden as well as lots of rabbits feasting on the grass only yards away from your pitch. Handy for Southend and there are many interesting walks to do around the Equestrian Centre...also this is Anne Boleyn country for those interested in Tudor history. The whole of the CL is nice and flat and the pitch is very large.

Lovely stay.

We stayed here for 5 nights in July. Jenny, the owner, is very friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed sitting watching the birds, rabbits and foxes whilst eating dinner in the evening. The toilet disposal isn't that far as mentioned below, it's right next to the shower block which is just a short stroll. The shower and toilet were kept clean and tidy. We'd happily stay here again when we're next in the area and definitely recommend it :)

March 2016

A level site, with partially very long grass, could have done with some attention at the end of last summer most of the area was roped off due to wet ground, very little shelter from the East wind, but 4 good hard standings at entrance. Lots of rabbits. Nice site for short stays, but not a site I would choose for a holiday. Water and Electric (10A) fine, but could do with better Chemical Toilet facilities put nearer to the site. There appears to be two CL at the same site so 10 pitches one was unfortunately “long term”

Great CL

Lovely site, welcomed on arrival, very quiet site. CL field partially roped off due to bad weather - understandable on a weekend in a very wet January. Really enjoyed the quietness of the site. The Dairy Cafe in the riding centre does a great breakfast @ weekends. Will certainly be using this site again, will be lovely in better weather, the pitches when full field is in use are very well spaced

Good CL Site

We have just had a week at this site.  The site is nice and peaceful with good facilities.  The facilities block was always clean when we used it and the shower was excellent (and free).  Plenty of places to walk the dogs but beware of the rabbits! We would definitely recommend this site.

Horses for Courses

We stayed here last September, using it as a base to visit relatives and have just returned from a return visit, almost 12 months later. Again the site is easy to find although the final approach lane is a little rough. However, the surface has been improved with far fewer potholes to negotiate but bear you should bear in mind that this is a working centre. You can drive straight onto the CC area and pick your pitch before visiting the reception where we were cheerfully introduced to the site by a member of staff who also tends the tack shop.  There are some hard standing pitches in the first of two available paddocks enclosed be trees and an open grass paddock beyond, each pitch having an electric point. On this occasion we chose a pitch in the first, tree enclosed paddock, alive with rabbits in the early morning. This is definitely a site just to sit and just chill out.  The facilities block is situated within the stables complex and consists of one room containing a sink and two separate toilets. These are general toilets for people working or visiting the stables and as such do tend to carry straw and other yard material into them during the course of the day. On the opposite side of the building is a separate key coded toilet and shower room with separate toilet and sink and shower cubical which, on both our stays was spotless.  Despite some previous adverse comments, we will certainly be back again and suggest you too consider the site as an option..

Dreadful facilities spoil this site

If you have a very modest rig like us, without shower, you will be disappointed by the revolting toilets. The shower room, within the same small block had a keypad lock but the door was swinging open and I didn't have the stomach to look inside. The two fields are fine and this is a cheap site but I have not seen loos like this in the UK.

A great late May Bank Holiday break

We arrived after an easy drive from Colchester and found the approach roadway a bit bumpy but not as bad as we were expecting from previous reviews. The site had been freshly mowed and we setup on pitch 2.  The pitches were all spacious and neat and tidy with great views across the paddocks.  The ancient churchyard adjacent to the site is worth a look and there was an account of the history on a notice board near the water point.  We visited most of the local coastal areas including Leigh, Canvey Island and Shoeburyness during our stay, and the highlight was fish and chips on Southend seafront!  We will certainly come again when we can.

Not your average CL!

An unusual and peaceful site. Very tranquil; there was an ancient disused churchyard adjacent to our pitch, the church having been demolished some time ago. Very friendly and informed staff at the Equestian Centre reception. We stayed over New Year. One criticism is the approach road. It is VERY badly potholed so great care is needed to avoid damage to car and caravan. Otherwise this site is extremely well worth visiting, and Rochford is a lovely little Essex town, with numerous good quality pubs and eateries, and more modern 'shop til you drop' facilities close by. We will be returning to this site.

Well worth the effort

Yes, the approach road is pot holed but, oh so worth the effort. The site is large, beautiful, partially landscaped and very well cared for. The staff were very welcoming and provided a pack with a wealthy of local information. It was very quiet at night with views over open fields and your neighbours will be 15 or more horses plus a lot of rabbits! It is within easy reach of Southend and the local small town of Rochford is very pretty with pubs, restaurants etc. We'll certainly return, a great CL.
