Lovely and peaceful

A lovely and peaceful site, may need a long electric lead depending on where you are situated. We stayed for 5 nights, Rob and Marilyn were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Lots to do in the surrounding areas. Thank you, look forward to seeing you both again.

Peaceful Stay

We enjoyed four nights at Silverhay Farm in early June, and found it extremely peaceful. Mr Hedditch was helpful in suggesting places to visit and the site's Wi-Fi was useful. There is plenty of room on site, but you may find it useful to have a long electric cable. If you prefer a rural location away from the coast, this is an ideal site.

Everything a cl should be

We stayed for 2 days on a mini break in the West Country. Plenty of space, fairly level, very clean and Covid compliant. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Good walking locally and a village with a pub nearby. A good location for exploring Somerset and Dorset.

First CL site

This was our first trip to a CL site after having a seasonal pitch for many years elsewhere. Very impressed, we were made to feel very welcome, site was very clean and tidy, and owners very helpful. Definately will be returning and would recommend a visit. If all CL sites are like this it will be Happy Caravaning.

WOW, SO RELAXING.

We had a great stay here for 8 days in September 2020. We were welcomed on arrival by the lovely owners, and had a the choice of anywhere in the field for our pitch. We were pleased see that in the Covid climate, there was plenty of space for everybody to distance. We also felt very safe, as there were hand sanitizers and soap fixed to the taps and waste disposal points. The rubbish was collected, and the bins cleaned every day, even the gates were cleaned. We were very impressed. The WiFi signal was excellent over the whole site, even inside the caravan with the blinds down. Very useful to plan our days out. There are many interesting places to visit in the area, busy like Hive Beach, or deserted like Pilsden Hill, the highest hill in Dorset. Plenty of things for all. There is a good local pub a short walk away with good food, and an excellent community shop in Broadwindsor 3 miles away. We had some slight problems with the 'van and the car, but Robert fixed them and sent us on our merry way. Thanks Robert and Marilyn, we will be back :-)

Exactly what a CL should be

We have just returned from a week at this site, which is near the Dorset/Devon border and offers a rural setting, but close enough to places of interest. On arrival we were met by the owner and could pitch where we liked on the grass field. There are two EHU points, with five sockets, so the only limiting factor is the length of you EHU lead. The field is mostly level and had recently been mowed. There is also a drinking water tap in the field and a waste disposal area. Recycling bins are near the gate. Therefore all the facilities a CL needs. Access is down an unmade track and through the owners business yard. He is a Welder/Fabricator, therefore there are items in the yard relating to his business (raw materials/finished items etc) and a Landrover waiting for some TLC. I wouldn't describe it as like a breakers yard, but someone working hard to make a living, The access through to the field is kept clear and i had no problem bringing my 7.4m caravan onto the site. Once into the site, banking helps screen the business from the site. Overall it is a very peaceful location. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and the sunsets viewed from the site make evenings more special. If you are happy to use your on board facilities i would recommend this site as a good place to explore West Dorset/East Devon from.

Lovely peaceful site to explore from!

Silverhay farm cl review September 2019 This is a great CL with a friendly, personal welcome from its lovely owners, but at present the approach via the owners workshop yard (resembling a car breakers yard), just visible on street view, will put a lot of tourers off. If you can get over this, once inside the CL the workshop yard is hidden. The pasture is a bit lumpy and bumpy, the grass a little long, but it's a nice spacious CL in a good position for touring and cycling the area, really quiet and with a nice open but well sheltered aspect. There is a fresh water tap at the top of the field, and a good, flushing CDP with a water rinse tap and hose at the lower end. Overall a level field, but as stated before, there are lumps and bumps. Rubbish, glass and recycling bins are by the new entrance gates. There is now good strong and free Wi-fi provided, a great boon to us. Radio, 3G and phone signals are good. As mentioned elsewhere, a second electrical cable would allow you to pitch anywhere. The area is very hilly, but for cycling there are lots of small, quiet lanes right from the door. Nearby are Lyme Regis and Bridport, and many stately homes and gardens. Mr Hedditch keeps a close eye on the site, and has improved it by screening the workshop yard and adding two hand crafted benches to the CL. He tells me he is currently planning to put in a new entrance avoiding his workshop, and put hardstanding under the cold tap, which would be brilliant. We loved our stay, and think this a lovely CL and great value, and in a good area. We hope to return soon.

Rustic

A very reasonably priced CL that includes Wi-Fi, electricity and has good TV reception. We only stayed two nights but would definitely return. It is peacefully set in attractive countryside with an abundance of quiet lanes and footpaths to explore and plenty of places to visit by car. There are no shops locally but a short walk away is a pub. The site is a well sized area of roughly cut and fairly level grass with trees and hedgerows dispersed on three sides. Entry is via a narrow track that winds its way around the back of farm buildings with overhanging trees. We were met by the owners on arrival. The site has a rustic feel. It only has two EHUs with no marked pitches so it’s worth bringing an extension lead. There is no significant road noise.
