Very useful site

We don’t often use the same CL regularly, as we choose an area we want to visit then choose a CL fairly central to it for, often, a 10 night stay, to thoroughly get to know the area. This was convenient on this occasion as we have friends in Gainsborough & Whinthorpe and we wanted to revisit the area south of Lincoln where I spent my teenage years. As OH is an RHS qualified gardener, we also look for nurseries in the area and can heartily recommend Pearson’s at Collingham! A bit further afield is Pottertons near Caistor - winners of a Chelsea Gold! It may be a while, but we would not rule out a return visit to this CL. There is a distant hum of traffic from the A46, but it is a regular hum and disappears as you screen it out. Nothing like as noticeable at night. We visited mid March and were, understandably, requested not to drive on the grass. Apart from Pitch 5, which we were on, this can present a problem with a longish outfit with an awning - no room for a car, although I’m sure the owners wouldn’t mind if the car was left offsite (no distance away - but check where first - it is a working farm & blocking routes is not appreciated!) Clearly this problem only arises in wet weather conditions, outside of which the grass can be used. WiFi has good coverage although it took a bit of work to log an iPad on. We don’t have the facilities to make use of the services direct, although it’s extremely convenient not to have to trail any distance with Aquaroll or wastemaster! We’ve used the odd CL without serviced pitches, where the owners have provided a length of pipe to drain waste water into a ditch behind the pitches (into the drain provided in this instance). Just a thought, to cater for those who don’t normally seek serviced pitches and don’t have the wherewithal! It’s only a short distance from EHU supply to van - we were surprised (horrified?) to see a couple of outfits leaving the cable coiled - a potential danger - that’s how electric fires work - heat created by passing electricity through coiled wire! (Sermon over!!) Certainly Skybarn Farm will remain on our list, not next week, maybe not even next year, but .............!

Comment from CL Owner:

Hello and thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review….it was lovely to meet you and your wife and hear about your past connections with the area.  I hope you don’t mind my addressing a couple of points you raise.  Firstly, there is no problem accessing any of the pitches in wet weather.  You are quite correct when you say we request visitors not to drive on the grass with their caravan attached or with a motorhome as this is a sure fire way to get stuck due to weight issues. However, we are quite happy for cars to be parked on the grass at the side of the pitch all year round thus leaving room for an awning on the hard standing.  I’m sorry you had a problem logging onto our WiFi….you should just have to enter the password provided.  Finally, we would have been more than happy to loan you piping for your grey waste if you had asked us.  We state in our site information leaflet (provided prior to arrival) that we are very approachable and friendly and visitors only have to ask us if they need help with anything at all.  Once again, thank you for your review and I hope this has cleared up any misunderstandings.
