Beautiful and a 20min walk to Malmesbury

Thank you for the warm welcome! A beautiful site with great views and a tranquil walk to Malmesbury, which is charming and historic.

Nice little CL

Visited this CL two weeks ago in midd February don’t know what all the fuss was about in other reviews. Owners could not have been any friendlier (was made to feel as though I’d known them years) and accommodating. On the way in and out of the site for the life of me could not find the dip in the road where the slurry sits. The toilet/shower block is immaculate with a free washing machine. Ok you still have to traverse the site for fresh water but think plans are underway to extend the water supply half way up to field. The grass could have done with a bit of a trim and the ground was a bit soft (but not soggy muddy wet) but as I say was February. Ok you have some farmyard smells and noises BUT at the end of the day you are staying on a WORKING FARM what else would you expect. If you want immaculately set out pitch’s most CL’s are not for you as nearly all CL’s are a SERVICE FOR US and not a main source of income ! And for £12pn this site is exceptional value. Will definitely recommend and return with friends.

Dissapointed

We stayed for 5 nights .the noise from machinery was constant and the smell from slurry made me feel ill.also the abundance of flys was awful.ok it was 30c so probably made these problems worse. The setting is idyllic l will not return,

Lovely Site and will return

This is a wonderful site. The only small criticism we could make is that there was no caravan club signs and given the nature of the farm road and a no through road sign we did wonder if we were on the correct road and worried about meeting another van coming in the opposite direction.

Lovely peaceful site

Arrived having read the previous reviews about the location of the water, and agree that it was quite a haul, but worth it for the location and size of the plot. Being at the end of a track ensures a peaceful time and work on the farm did not intrude. However while we were there we were the first to use the new better located facilities in a purpose made wooden hut. Four compartments separate drinking water, bins, a proper Elsan; not just a manhole or hole in the ground; and a toilet! The owner has thought about the details and sited the open side of the hut away from the site so screening visitors from the view of the Elsan. Owners were very friendly. This is the best CL site we have stayed on.

Where are the owners?

This is a spacious site, and apparently there are several options for pitching, wither on the CL itself, or on various alternative pitches around the farm. The waste disposal is a 0.3 mile return trip if you use the car, and the water is also quite remote. Both are very hard to find when you first arrive. Worse, we failed to get a response from the owners, and there is no signage whatsoever. Should have used my phone, but there is little signal, and poor TV reception. We found the facilities by talking to others on the site.  This is a great location for accessing Westonbirt and many other places of interest. The pitching is very spacious, although there are many molehills. Access is about half a mile down a single track road which is quite potholed in places, but the worst is that you finally approach through a dip in the road which is concrete, and covered in cow slurry. When leaving, it had rained, and our car and caravan, travelling at absolute minimun speed, both slithered across the road as if on ice. A static caravan site is being developed next to the CL, and a water point and toilet, possibly a washing machine, is to be installed, hopefully for next year. This will help considerably. Also, the price will remain the same, which will make the site fair value.  The other thing that was odd that it was very difficult to find the owners. We had no response when knocking on the door. Others had been there for 5 days and not been able to talk with them. We were later told to 'try the back door, we never hear the front door' but there are no notices of any kind anywhere on the site. How would you know?? We are not sure if we would return, but if you don't mind it being rustic (in a muddy, cowe-smell sort of way) and the long approach, this CL is well located for visits, and has plenty of space. Customer service best described as very informal! We visited in the late autumn, so it would undoubtably feel much nicer on a sunny summer day. Watch out for that cow poo whern you are towing though.

Should be five stars all around but….

This is a fantastic CL in a location second to non for peace and quiet. Yes, it's a working farm but the sound of honest work never hurt anyone.  Only 4 stars because of the fresh water tap location. Please could it be moved to a nicer/more convenient position on the actual field?

A real CL

A pure CL on a working farm. We were welcomed by the owner on arrival and shown all the services. We were aware of the slope and distance to the water and chemical waste so no problem to us. Lovely part of the country so will be back.

Handy centre

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the site is certainly peaceful and in a beautiful setting.   We agree with the comment about the difficulties of the water tap being at the bottom of the site and it is a hard pull up the slope with a full water barrel.  However we solved this by hitching the handle of our barrel over the towing hook on the car and my wife walking behind the car as I pulled the barrel up the slope.  Problem solved!  Would have appreciated a few signs to tell you where the tap and waste disposal were but otherwise a very good site.
