Idyllic!

Absolutely beautiful site.  Pitches are large, private and have stunning view.  Quiet, clean and the owners are friendly but not intrusive.  They actually provide a digibox if U don't have a satellite dish.  The woodland trust walks are beautiful and there is a bus service from the end of the lane.  Only drawback is there is no toilet on site, but not the end of the world.  Probably better for adults than children but what a base for a walking holiday.

A little gem

Booked this site at short notice for a 8 night stay, wish we could have stayed longer what a gem. Level with grass mats to reduce mud if its wet. Private pitches with hedging. The only down side was a dog in the village that seemed to keep barking! The owners were helpful and the site is well situated for walking and biking. This site is so well kept and clean we will be going back. Pity all sites are not like this one. One word of warning if you have a big outfit you do need a motor mover.

Nice site - lots to see in the area

Well-landscaped use of limited space made each pitch seem very private.  The grassed hard-standings mean that it is open all year. For us as a family with 9 year old son, the real plus was the wealth of local attractions within a short distance: - Crich Tramway Museum - Cable car up the Heights of Abraham - Arkwright's Mill - Masson Mill - Matlock Bath - Hardwick Hall - Tissington Hall. We didn't have time to see everything that we wanted and would happily return to this site when we are next in the area. Maneuvering can be tight - but OK with a motor-mover. Owners are helpful and friendly.

Small but nice

We have just spent a few nights at Splash farm. The approach to the site is a bit tight, but if you take care you will be fine.We found the directions to the site very accurate. Lots to do around Matlock area, the site itself is very nice but we found a little tight to manouver our twin axel on there, although the owner did say that they are looking to make a little more space by taking out a few hedges. Very helpful and nice owner. It is very peaceful on splash farm it is easy to forget that you are not smack bang in the middle of the country side, also lovely views from the pitches.

lovely site

Just returned from our 2nd stay at this site and once again it didn't disappoint. Friendly welcome, clean site, well set out with private pitches. Endless miles of walks without having to even start the car! (but plenty of places to visit if you do want to drive). If you have a free weekend in your diary i would not hesitate to recommend this little gem of a site. We will be returning without a doubt.

Struck gold in the Peak District

We have just returned from a fantastic 2-week break at Splash Farm. We booked it on the strength of the other reviews and we were not disappointed. The sat nav leaves you just short of the site if you use the postcode, but as long as you print out the directions you will have no problem getting here. It is situated next to the John Smedley textile factory (it shares the approach road with it), but don't let this put you off as you cannot hear or see anything once you are on site. You are greeted with a welcome note telling you where to pitch. Each pitch is all-weather and comes with a Freesat connection (£1 a night) as TV reception is not very good. Situated just outside Matlock and Matlock Bath all areas of the Peak District are within a 45-minute car journey, with Ashbourne, Buxton and Bakewell the easiest to get to. It is a dog walker's heaven as there are so many walks close by to the site and many more just a short car journey away - we went walking every day and never did the same walk twice. There are no real shops within walking distance, but there is a big Sainsbury's in Matlock which we used. I can also recommend Maazi Indian restaurant in Matlock. We had a superb takeaway at a very reasonable price. Mick and Theresa, the owners, are extremely helpful and a wealth of local knowledge if you need any advice. This site was featured in this month's magazine and the number of CC members who we saw come by to check it out was amazing. I will definitely try and stay here again when we come back to the Peak District

Perfect Pitch

We missed the turn off for the farm but a local put us right. When we arrived there was a note on the gate telling us where to pitch. We stayed 2 nights and it was beautiful. Sat watching a buzzard glide in the air whilst BBQ'ng and again at breakfast. Everything was perfect and so very well kept. This site is a real credit to it's owners and as a member I wonder what he thinks at other CL's less perfect than their own site. We will be back later in the season that is for sure.

Simply beautiful

We booked on this site as a on route stop over from the National at Belvoir Castle. We had chosen it from the cl listings as it ticked many off the boxes we had. The pitches are all weather type and were spotless as was the whole site. There are many walks to have and the Village of Matlock Bath with its fame for the cable car rides plentiful fish and chip bars and Ice cream shops is just a couple of mile away. Once you have had your fill of being the tourist for the day, then its time to return to the peace and quite of the CL where only the sound of the wildlife disturbs the peace. This was our first stay here but it will most definitely not be our last

Superb CL

Just returned from a weekend away at this CL site. Owners very friendly and relaxed, site set out beautifully, well maintained and clean. Fantastic location for peace and quiet and endless miles of walking. (the dogs are shattered). Loved it so much have booked again for another weekend as we left.
