So welcoming

When you see their sign it’s immediately first entrance just off road. Lady really lovely with all the info. Pleasant site 2 wc 1 shower good for cl and with electric for £18. Yes you can hear road but didn’t bother me and quieter at night. Location very good cross the road take the path beside bungalow turn right keep going and you get to town and you see sea in parts very pleasant east 25 minute walk. Plenty coffee shops coffee 10 worth a visit through town opposite Rose and Crown. This is a good find recommend.

Nice Site Friendly owners

Nice site. Fishing available on site Mini shower block 1 x shower and couple of loos spotlessly clean Electric was adequate but don't try to use an air-fryer. Owner was friendly. Near a very busy noisy road that starts very early! would use again as its handy for Hornsea although we wouldn't walk in as the road is so busy.

Great little site

We loved this site. Elaine was fabulous, welcoming & very flexible. Toilets & shower block nice & clean. Friends were over the road at the caravan park so great distance for us. Beach great to get to too. Little boy 4yrs old loved meeting new friends & the space they had to play. Thank you Elaine we will be back xx

Great site - surrounding area a bit disappointing

We chose this site on the strength of good reviews and the fact that it was within walking distance of Hornsea which we had never been to before and fancied going somewhere different. The site lived up to what previous reviews said but we were a bit disappointed with the area. We walked into the centre of Hornsea one day and whilst the walk was quite pleasant, partly over fields and partly along the beach, the town centre seemed a bit run down; we could not even find anywhere that sold postcards ! Also, although the beach is not all that far away from the site as the crow flies, getting down to it was not direct, involving walking along the path opposite the site and then turning right and walking almost into the centre of Hornsea or a shorter route after turning left but involving a very difficult descent over boulders at the back of the boat yard. However, if you can manage to get over the boulders, you are rewarded with an almost deserted sandy beach. The site itself is a gem. All grass and normally, as we have a motorhome, we stick to sites with hardstandings but we took a chance with this one and had no problems getting in or out even though there was quite a few showers before and during our stay. The site is spacious with water taps and picnic benches set out around the site, one for each unit and you can pick exactly where you want place your unit - no fussy rules. Adjacent to the site are two fishing ponds which are fenced off from the site but there are mown grass paths around them which make for quite a good dog walk. Some previous reviews have referred to traffic noise. It is certainly noticeable if you listen for it but we found that it did not intrude and we just forgot about it. Overall, the site is well worth a visit and probably best if used as a base for visiting the wider area.

Holiday Review

What a lovely place , just been for 9 nights. Owners very helpful. We walked to the beach with our dog every day had fab weather, walk only 10 minutes. Easy to walk into Hornsea. Pitch spaces very large. Toilets and shower kept clean. Lovely walk around fishing ponds. Brilliant if you want to fish. On grass ,The ground was firm even with a shower well draining . Plenty of cold water taps we connected up to the tap so didn’t have to keep filling Aqua roll up. There is some road noise but didn’t bother us at all easy to find. Definitely go back next year for a holiday.

Lovely small site with good facilities.

Stayed for 4 nights last week at this little gem of a site. Only 5 vans allowed, so lots of space between vans, in fact although there were other vans on site we could not see them and felt as if we were in the middle of the countryside on our own. It has 2 toilets and a shower which were kept spotless. Each pitch has its own water tap and the grass was well kept. The owners Elaine and Fred were very welcoming and helpful. There was also a wooden table with seats for each pitch for eating al fresco without having to unload ours (another bonus). My husband had a great day fishing on one of the 2 ponds there, which have good pegs and are sheltered from the wind. There was some noise from the road, but it was not disturbing, in fact we both slept very well. We are looking forward to returning to this lovely site.

Nice small site with plenty of space

Nice small site between Skipsea and Hornsea. Limited to 5 pitches which means plenty of space between vans. 2 x toilets and 1 x shower separate from toilets, well kept and never had to wait for either. The site is on the main road so you have traffic noise during the day, but it quietens down at night and we had no problem sleeping. Our hosts were very nice and accommodating. The coast a relatively short walk away (15-20 mins) via a bridle path directly across the road from the site. The road is quite busy, but we have 2 fairly nervous Border Collies and we managed to cross quite easily without problem. Dogs can be walked on site (on leads) around the 2 fishing ponds which is good for morning and evening needs... We stayed for 3 nights and walked into Hornsea one day (30-40 mins) and up the beach as far as Skirlington the others days (1.5 - 2 hours each way and approximately 4 miles each way on the beach). Access to beach is either via Hornsea (turning right at the end of the bridal path) or via a steep path from the cliff top at the side of the boat yard (turning left at the end of the bridal path). We love this coast as the beaches are great and always empty, even this time of year (August). A note of caution for anyone planning the same beach walking as us on this stretch of coast, please make sure you check the tide times and plan your walks accordingly, as the beach is enormous when the tide is out, but mostly does not exist when the tide is in and as the coast line is completely cliffs with relatively few access points you could get stranded..... In summary, we would certainly recommend this site for beach walking like we did or as a base for visiting other attractions in the area.

Fantastic fortnight

Stayed for 15 nights over august BH. Elaine and Fred keep a lovely site don't know where they get all their energy from, they're always busy. Clean facilities if you need them. Handy having your own freshwater tap. Husband had a great time fishing. Hornsea a short drive away go to cafe chocolate an amazing cream tea. Everything you need for a relaxing time. So much so we've already booked for next year. We loved it!

Real gem of a site..............Not to be missed

Just back from 3 nights here, wish we could of stayed longer, a very warm welcome from our host, such a relaxed and calming feel to the whole site. If your a fisherman this is a dream come true, we are not, however the ponds were so nice to just sit and watch the dragon flies and abundance of wildlife surrounding it. Facilities were spot on. a trip into Hornsea is a must, and an easy wander from the site along the bridleway across the road. Small dog walk on site which was so peaceful at 7 am just watching the ponds. Be aware of the entrance, maybe just us but we turned down the right road but then missed the immediate hard right entrance to the site as the road does lead to another caravan park. A few have mention the road, yes you can hear the traffic but I cannot say it ever caused us any disturbance, and the owner has taken steps to lessen the noise by planting more hedging plants but these will take time to grow, but do not let that put you off this little gem. We are a family of 2 adults, 4 under 12's and 2 dogs and while this did seem a more adult retreat the kids had plenty of room to play and I never heard "mum I'm bored" the whole time, in fact getting them to go away from the site was the hardest part. If I were to make any suggestions I would of liked to see a pot wash area, but that is more because we use a cadac and the are a little big for the sink in the van.
