Quiet pleasant CL site

Stayed here first time for 7 nights. Gets booked fairly quickly as have tried before previously. Serviced pitches but only one tap to two pitches so require a splitter water connector to be attached to the tap for two units to use it. No recycling. All pitches have views of the lakes. There are lodges around but only see them when you drive to your pitch as the site is split into areas and each area has its own lake to look out onto, so keeps the area you are in nice and quiet and tranquil. Also helps the people who fish. Easy access to and from the A1 for an overnight stops but tends to be for longer stays. Site appears to be expanding with another two lakes and pitches being prepared for additional lodges or cabins, but again appears out of site from the CL site. A very nice CL site with a rally area if required, very peaceful overlooking the lakes. Would stay again if can get in.

Another great week

Have just come back from lovely week at this site it's peaceful with lovely views of the lakes, happy husband who fishes and caught some, its got a great pub nearby so you can walk down to it, slightly overgrown in places on the walk but not a problem , wooded area to walk the dog and see the deer if your quiet , it is a shame no recycle but we took to the supermarket when we visited so easily solved, a very laid back enjoyable week with friends thankyou

Great if you like fishing

Arrived at a beautiful site with pitches looking out to a fishing lake. Unfortunately it was a mud bath. We are getting tired of sites saying “suitable for motorhomes” when they are not. Luckily we didn’t have any rain and when we left, we barely got out, leaving the grass in a right mess. Also, the toilet disposal place was rank. It really really ponged. There was one bin and no recycling facilities at all. We love walking and there were plenty of options, but unfortunately the footpaths were completely over grown, either by crops or nettles. Our legs were stung terribly. Had a lovely meal at the pub in Stretton though and there was a great looking pub in Clipsham as well.

Our Covid 19 retreat.

We have just returned from our third stay this year at this lovely cl site. Nice and quiet although if the wind is in the wrong direction you can just hear a light rushing sound from the passing traffic on the A1..This never bothered us at all. Due to the Covid 19 we have not traveled away as far as we would normally. When we first booked this cl we saw that they had the fishing on site.I had not fished for many many years. With a quick trip to our local Tackle shop we were soon ready to go (we had a great time) some big fish in these lakes if you have the skills to get them out. £15 a night with 16amp electric, fishing included,a real bargain! All the other reports say it all so I will sign off. Would we visit again! YES if we can get in it's always booked up so get in early. Roll on 2021.

Peaceful break in lovely surroundings

We had never been to this site before although we had been in the area. Really good access to the site, I had read some reviews which said the first part of the single road to the site was bumpy but it turned out to be a very short section and it really wasn’t that bad! Really easy access to the site, there are some log cabins nestled behind trees and bushes sitting next to a large lake. As we drove up to the CL site you pass the rally site, only 5 caravans/motorhomes allowed and right next to a lake, the CL site was a little further on, again next to another lake, really beautiful surroundings, there is a fairly newly planted woods which you have full access to belonging to the forestry commission for public use. The CL site was very well served, the electricity supply is 16 amps so we were not forever tripping it out! There was a water tap between 2 of us, we had a double connector so was able to be plumbed straight in as was our neighbour. Just a short walk away was the toilet disposal point and dustbin (no recycling facility just the 1 dustbin). The CL site was big enough that you were not all bunched together with lovely views from the caravan. There is also a gravel path in front of the caravans and although we had some heavy rain we were able to pull our caravan out without getting stuck. I think the rally site maybe a little bit more boggy as it is lower. There are several lakes scattered around and there is fishing available for the lodges and caravans, also day fishers but despite this it was very peaceful and tranquil. I believe the owner does drive round at times so you can pay him directly, we walked up to the farm house and paid directly, just to note the bungalow you pass as you enter the site is not the farmhouse, that is further on, the farmhouse is straight ahead and the rally and CL sites are off to the left. There are plenty of places in the local area to visit. We had fish & chips one night from Cottesmore (Approx 3 - 4 miles) which we would highly recommend, we also had Sunday lunch in the same village at the Sun Inn, we had an excellent meal, helpful, friendly staff and lovely quaint surroundings, again can highly recommend. We could not really fault anything, in these difficult Covid 19 times we had a relaxing break and felt safe in all the establishments we visited.

Lovely site :)

Stayed for 2 nights, on a thursday and friday. Lovely quiet location with fishing lakes and plenty of walks. Rained most of the day on friday so didnt get to see and do as much as we would've liked although did venture into Oakham for a look around, and had a meal at the Jackson Stops in Stretton in the evening which was very nice. You can walk dogs straight from site by going down the drive and turning right into a large fenced area. Didnt see owners at all but that suited us fine. Was easy to find bins and CDP, then we just dropped the money through their door before leaving. Would definitely recommend, and we will definitely return- hopefully with some better weather next time!

Excellent site

When you approach and see the green advertising board this is where you turn in, don't wait for one with an arrow. The track is a bit bumpy to start with but not a problem if driving slowly. Pitches are all grass, flat and have water. Views across the fishing lakes are lovely. Lots of great paths for walking the dogs, no need to drive elsewhere. 20 minute walk across a field to the local pub, Jackson Stops. Excellent food and service. Olive pub is just less than a mile, we only had a drink here, a bit more upmarket and will try the food next time we come, Oakham a short drive for local shops and coop. Stamford a nice place to visit too. Found a Sam Smiths pub here, a bit of Yorkshire Peaceful lovely setting

WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN.

Peaceful site next to two lakes, however always some "background noise" during the day, motorway maybe? Not enough to spoil your stay. Pitches not marked but plenty of room for each unit, useful having your own tap on your pitch. Night time very quiet. Well looked after site, very clean and well sign-posted, easy access from A1. Would stay here again.
