90% perfect

What a wonderful site so peaceful and relaxing beside the lakes and lovely dog walks. A bit muddy where we were parked and adults only a bit misleading as there was child on site although to be fair was not a problem. We shall like to return sometime

Fabulous!

What a lovely site, beautifully maintained and very peaceful overlooking the lakes.  Great dog walks from the site into the village of Stretton or just around the woods.  There are so many places to visit in this beautiful area, Stamford, Oakham, Uppingham and Rutland Waters to name a few. We will definitely return as so relaxing.

Imagine it could be very tranquil

I left a review in August after our stay which seems to have disappeared. Lovely site by two lakes which would normally be pretty quiet I would imagine. We were a little unlucky in getting a couple of girls a bit close to us (pitches not marked out very well) in a VW camper who were shouting and laughing into the early hours of the morning. I think the term adults only is a bit misleading as there were kids roaming about when we were there. But would normally be a very nice site I'm sure.

Beautiful site

A beautiful, well kept site on the edge of one of the fishing lakes and each pitch has a tap with the EHU. Lovely and peaceful with scenic views yet only a mile or two from the A1. There is a footpath from the site to the village but I found out that the pub in Stretton is closed on a Sunday night which saved me a few pounds! As for access, I nearly missed the entrance as the sign is almost on top of it; that was probably my fault but look out for it on the left as you leave Stretton. Will we go back? Oh yes, without a doubt.

A nice place

We stayed he re for 3 nights from 21/6/2015. As previously commented on the approach road is very bumpy, but once you arrive on the site road it is all gravelled. The grass was very long when we arrived, but we found out the owner had just returned from holiday. Next day we came back and it was cut. Easy for Rutland Water and though we don't fish it was relaxing to watch those who did. Water and electric points right by the van and a pleasant walk through the fields.

Stretton Lakes CL Oakham Rutland

A lovely, clean CL with great areas for dog walking as a there is a footpath to the village and a wood with a footpath to the rear of the luxury log cabins which are in a completely separate area to the CL. Perfectly flat with good drainage and easily accessible from the A1 and road from the village. New clean Elsan point and bin area. The grass could have done with a cut but have seen much worse. Each electric point had it's own water tap so it was a luxury to have a "super pitch"!. There are 6 different sized fishing lakes which fished well. £12 per night - what a bargain - we will definitely be returning!Lots to see in local area providing you are wiling to use your car. Historic towns and quaint villages in the locality and plenty of things to see. Most pubs were dog friendly and the food at The Plough (dog friendly) in nearby Greetham was excellent.

Quiet and Peaceful CL

There are two sites available - a CL and rally. Don't panic - the rally site is just a mirror of the CL and only takes 5 vans as well. Both sites and all pitches are close to the lakes and have great views. Although the rally site will be a lot better once the hedgerow and trees have grown! All in all, a peaceful and tranquil site well worth a visit even if you're not a fisherman.

What a gem

We stayed at the CL in August Apparently the CL has been moved from its location last year to where it is now, overlooking the lake and the countryside beyond. The toilet referred to in the previous review has now gone. There is a new Elson which is set into the floor and easy to use. The fishermen were few and far between and some of the caravanners were fishing. There was no problem at all. The site is beautiful and well maintained, near to Stamford, Oakham and Rutland Waters. The two pubs however are further away than the distances quoted, the nearest was a good, pleasant, 20 minutes walk, mainly through the countryside but with a dodgy bit on the road with no footpath. Access to the site is up a long, fairly bumpy approach, but so easy to turn onto the actual CL. All in all a wonderfully attractive site, well cared for by the owners. £12.night

Top Notch CL

We stayed here for 5 night in July and had a great time. The setting is lovely with the lakes, lodges and surrounding farm making for an out of the way feel. The CL seems to be shared with the anglers which is fine as they tend to need to keep quiet and themselves to themselves. The water points were well positioned however the chemical disposal point is an old toilet that has seen better days and could do with an upgrade. There is obviously a bin for rubbish but no recycling that we could see. I'm not sure if the onsite toilet is to be shared with the anglers or if it's anglers only. The only real down point for us and ironically it's not the fault of the CL is the quality of the walking around the area. Stretton Lakes and the council have done their best but the neighbours are very unwelcoming with fenced off styles, overgrown bridges, collapsed styles and unmaintained paths. The combination of GPS and maps was the only way to ensure you stayed true to the paths. Unfortunately I have made this feedback sound negative but that's not true from a basic CL point of view. We would go back again which is the real test!
