Peaceful - even in the torrential rain!

We stayed at this site for the second New Year in a row. We would have preferred it a bit drier but even Ross can't control the weather! The hard standing meant that there was no real problem. We were made welcome both at the site and at the village pub where we went on New Year's Eve. The wrong time of year for the excellent walks etc., but we will be back for that.

Peaceful site

We have just spent 3 nights on this quiet site on a working farm.  The Tarka trail is approximately 1/2 mile from the site and we cycled over 50 miles of the trail over 2 days. RHS Rosemoor is also within a few minutes drive and well worth a visit. We hope to return again next year.

Wonderful CL in stunning location

Great CL situated on a working farm. Fabulous views of the countryside. Owners friendly and welcoming. Booked this site due to proximity to Tarka cycle trail and it was ideally situated for this. The local pub (The Cider Press) in the village was OK for food but nothing outstanding. Access to the site was good even though it looks scary at first with the very narrow road and a blind left turn under a bridge. Just be aware that the local bus uses the same road.

Ideal even in the rain!

The weather for our stay in September was very wet and windy but this did not spoil our stay on this very well run and friendly site.  Water drained away quite quickly and the cinder path meant that you could get to the facilities easily enough.  There are lovely views and when the sun came out eventually it brightened the whole outlook.  Ross was always cheery and friendly and even gave us two warm eggs for breakfast one morning.  We would definitely recommend this CL site.

Great CL

What a wonderful CL for all. This was our second visit to this family run CL and once again had a great time. The owners made us feel very Welcome. My children loved watching the cows on a daily basis come in for milking, and chasing the Chicken around the site. Would recommend this site to base yourself for many different activities such as Walking, cycling or just to go surfing at Westward Ho!. A must is a visit to Tea on The Green at Westward Ho! as well!! Great Cream Teas!!! Be advised they are closed on a Monday & Tuesday. Enjoy your stay at this CL.

The Barton

A realy nice site and conveniently located. It is a working farm but we loved being close to the cows and chickens. The owners are really friendly and helpful.

Summer stay

We where greated within 5 mins of arriving on site by the owners, we tend to book farm CL's and again were not disappointed with our choice. A working dairy farm with additional livestock, chickens, goats, rabbits and horses provided a great deal of interest for our two children. Ross, Nikki and their children always had time to talk about the farm and our children were encouraged to help out with feeding animals and other tasks involved with the day to day running of the farm. The site is well maintained clean and tidy with generous pitches. Positioned well for visits to the beach, cycling on the "Tarka" trail with shops and other local interests nearby. A great 10 night stay was had by all and a lovely village pub with good food and beer with children welcome, we will be returning sometime soon to explore more of what this lovely part of Devon has to offer.

Perfect return to caravaning

After a 30+ year break we couldn't have wished for a better site, very nice friendly family. The first visit was at Easter (perfect weather) the second was Spring bank holiday (weather awful) but we still found no end of things to do. We will be back, later in the year.

Peaceful and welcoming

We wanted somewhere for a quiet and peaceful New Year, and we certainly found it here. Ross was very welcoming and made sure everything was OK for us - he even apologised for the grass being a bit long - it was the middle of winter for goodness sake! He must have to put up with some very fussy customers if they expect a bowling green all year round. The issue with the chemical waste emptying point mentioned in other reviews has been remedied, it is now close enough to the pitches. For those who need to keep in contact, the mobile phone signal (EE) was excellent, with 3g. We will be back!
