A lovely CL

We recently stayed on this site for the first time and it was lovely and we cannot rate it high enough....The owners Chris and Jan made us very welcome and were at the gate when we arrived. We were displaying our vintage cars at a nearby Steam Rally at Belvoir Castle (along with another couple who were also staying on this site) and Chris very kindly allowed us to keep them overnight in his barn in case it rained. The site is spotlessly clean, peaceful and in a lovely location. The water taps and disposal are just a few yards away which is is great and we loved the sheep peacefully grazing in the adjacent field.... We only live 35 miles away from the site but we will definitely return when we are in need of a peaceful break.... Well done Chris and Jan for running a lovely CL.

Great Site

First time we have stayed at this site and very pleasantly surprised. Owners very friendly and had time to chat when seeing them. The site is clean and very organized even the chemical waste point was a modern flush system which is a new thing to me never seen one at any other site. I was really pleased when I arrived to see a spacious plot with ample room to manoeuvre onto your pitch as I have a twin axle van towed with a long wheelbase Landy and most sites are a bit tight. Great dog walks and good pubs near by within staggering distance :-) . At moment planning our next visit, highly recommended but not for children. Ade and Trish

Balm for the soul

This was a lovely site with helpful and courteous owners. Fantastic homegrown rhubarb! Peaceful, spacious and easy access to water, disposal and bins. Grass is collected when cut so no horrible clumps to trek inside. Dog enjoyed the walks! Will definitely visit again-in fact we originally booked for 1 week and ended up staying for 2!

WHAT A LOVELY SITE.

We keep coming back to this site as we can't think of anything negative to say about it. The owners Chris and Jan couldn't be more friendly and do everything to keep the site in perfect condition. Entry is easy and secure and the grass is cut regularly and kept in lovely condition. All facilities are also kept very clean. The walks are fantastic especially along the Canal where you can finish up at the Plough and enjoy a drink and good food. All in all, a lovely site which we will keep coming back to. Thanks again for making our stay very enjoyable Colin & Margaret

Excellent Level Rally Field behind CL

The Leicestershire Centre held a rally here last weekend. We were wondering whether the site owners would call the rally off because of the rain we had during the week, but we were amazed when we arrived, the ground was firm with no hint of the rain we had had - ideal for a rally field. Chris and Jan were very welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Easy walk via footpaths or the road to the Plough Inn at Hickling, where the meals were excellent value and staff friendly. Nice local walks from the site to the Grantham Canal and Colston Bassett village. CL was secure and well looked after as was the general area of the farm.

Peaceful site

What an excellent site, the owners Chris and Jan are really friendly and really made us welcome. The site is extremely well maintained with the grass really closely mown and no grass cuttings either as these are removed. The site access is easy and secure with a locked access gate. There are plenty of different activities fairly close by including Belvoir Castle, The National Watersports Centre, Clumber park, Nottingham and Leicester City, and the Space Centre. We also enjoyed the pleasant easy walking in the immediate area and two pubs to choose from. Well worth an extended stay.

Not the friendiest sites

On arrival, had to go to shop to get key as gate to cl locked. As l was telling them who i was they were punching amount for my stay into card machine. I don't mind paying before my stay but do like to get pitched up an settled first. anyway, the pitch that l had booked had been taken by someone else. When i went to connect hook up the was a 3 way adapter in it as extra vans had been put in adjoining field. Nice to have to ration electric. With these extra vans pitched right behind us on other side of fence, only had about 3 to 4 metres between us. So much for the 6m heath and safety minimum distance, one van was told to get as close to another as needed for their hook up to reach. No more than 3m between those. On a brighter note, amenities were fine. cannot comment on loo as used our own. Having to unlock and relock gate on departure and again on arrival was pain in backside. Paranoia rules ok seems to come to mind. won't be returning to this site as not even quiet as apart from main road we were right by the road leading to the shop and locals not exactly driving slowly up there.

Lovely CL.

Nice clean site,Level grass field, We spent 9 nights here, plenty of room for awnings. good little on site shop, and nursery. There is a toilet but we never found it until the last day. It does state wifi, but you can only get it if you sit outside the shop and not in your van, which I found a bit misleading. Having said that I would go back again, Easy drive into Nottingham race course park and ride into city centre £3.50 a car.no charge for persons. A visit to the city caves and The old courthouse a must. Great Central steam railway not far, and a pork pie in Melton Mowbury. Our dog loved the walks around the fields which all have mown walk ways. We will return again soon

A Little Piece Of Heaven On Earth

Wow! What a fantastic place. The site is well maintained and well secured. It's extremely quiet, peaceful and has great views. There's also a well stocked farm shop selling a wide range of products - some of which the owners have grown themselves - and a plant nursery selling good quality plants at good prices.  All the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. There's a great network of walks from the site across the fields on dedicated grass tracks (not too demanding) and along the now dis-used Grantham Canal, which is also great for cycling along too. There's an abundance of wild life on the walks along with great views and no people! The Plough is a good pub and only about half a mile down the road and situated across from the canal basin: quite an idyllic setting. This site is also well positioned if you wish to visit Nottingham city centre as it's only a 25 minute drive away. The owners are doing a great job with this site and it really is a credit to them. This is a site we'll be visiting time and again and truly feels like a little bit of heaven on earth.
