Terrific Location

Stayed for 6 nights at this exceptional site, immaculate facilities on a well maintained field. We were made very welcome by Judy and made to feel at home. I would highly recommend this site.

Good location

The CL is ideally located just off the main road between Dorchester and Weymouth, there is a little road noise but nothing to worry about. Care needs to be taken when arriving and departing as some of the bushes at the entrance to the CL could do with a trim. The site is level and flat with plenty of room between the pitches. The lawn is kept short and the grass is collected which we find is a huge bonus. The information room was good, I particularly enjoyed reading about the history of the farm and its occupants. The facilities are shared with another site just up the lane. This is the first CL we have been on that charges by caravan length, plus there is an extra charge for an awning and to use the toilet and shower. The owners were away for most of our stay but the lady looking after the site was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed watching the owls every night as they left their roost and also saw lots of other bird life in the hedges around the CL plus there is lots to do and see in the local area and found the walking and cycling excellent. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Owl about!

Thanks to Judy and her friend Rowena (who took the reins when the family were on holiday) for making us feel at home. Lovely site. The shower and toilet facilities were worth the £2.00 per night per van. Regular buses to Dorchester and Weymouth can be caught at the end of the lane 2 mins walk away. We were lucky to stay when the owlets were near to leaving the nest as the adults were feeding them through the day yes in the day beautiful birds. Will have to return as we never got round to walking up Maiden Hill Fort.

Lovely Site

A lovely little hamlet tucked under Maiden Castle: this is one of the nicest sites we have been to. There is a bus stop a 5 minute walk away with regular busses to Dorchester or Weymouth: the Dorchester Tesco being pretty much the next stop heading north. 300 yards down a quiet lane there is a foot path up to Maiden Castle and the circular walk around the ramparts will take you about an hour and gives you a spectacular view of this part of South Dorset. The wet room, suitable for the disabled, and w.c are excellent and kept beautifully clean. The facilities are shared with the nearby small Dick's Plot site so you may have to be prepared to queue. We will be back.

Nice CL in good location.

Our second visit to this CL. We were on the main CL which is close to the barn where there is a resident Barn Owl. It was nice to see the owl flying at Dusk. We used our own facilities but for those who need it there is a loo and shower available for £2 per couple per day. The CL area is fairly level and well kept. Area adjacent to the CL is natural countryside which is ideal for the wildlife. We took the bus to Weymouth and Dorchester, and the Jurasic Coaster buses can be used to get to many places of interest from both Locations. Owner called late each afternoon when there were new arrivals.

Great location

A lovely CL with good access to beautiful walking, or the seaside town of Weymouth and quaint town of Dorchester. Always enjoy watching the resident barn owl! Excellent wet shower room for an extra £2 a night. Some traffic noise but not too invasive. Easy access and level pitches.

Nice little site

Stayed for 4 nights in May. Good location for easy access to local area attractions. Ideal base for a cycling holiday. Easy access to site. Level pitches. Washroom/showers/WC all new and kept very tidy. Would recommend - we intend to return.

Great central location for sight seeing

The site is on a working farm about 10 minutes from Dorchester.  It is in a good position for sight seeing - we went as far as Sidmouth in Devon, Bournmouth and the New Forest. There is a pub about 10 minutes drive away in another village. As well as providing electric, the site also provided a television aerial, which was good as we couldn't get anything using our own aerial.   The only negative was that we stayed when it was harvesting time, so the farm tractors were working late into the evening, and early in the morning which was quite noisy and dusty.  Other than this the site is nice and quiet.
