our stay16/17 April 2024

As said in some of the other reviews, not that easy to find satnav useless , we had to phone the owner for more directions as towing a caravan on the very narrow lanes is challenging to say the least, if you do get it wrong turning around can be a nightmare, On arrival we were met the the lady owner and shown to our pitch, there had been a lot of rain but the ground was not too bad , set in a large valley lovely views , A couple of small lakes with seating would be lovely when the sun shines , Toilets and Showers in what looks like a brand new porta cabin , and the are as you would expect immaculate . The site in general needed a tidy up , grass was very long in places and some of the farm units seem to be rented out to various small business ,To be fair I was told the Owners husband had been ill and had not been able to keep the site to its usual standard ,,

Very quiet tranquil site

This a lovely site, very quiet, we will definitely put it on our list to return Pitches spaced out, site kept very tidy, met on arrival and everything explained As others said lane narrow, it would be easier if the hedges were cut at the beginning on the lane in. We were in a motorhome and we were lucky enough not to meet anything The site is worth negotiating the narrow lane very pleasant

Quiet peaceful stay

We had a weeks stay here and the site is certainly peaceful and quiet. The site itself is large, with plenty of space inbetween pitches, with a lovely lake all of which are kept very neat and tidy. The owners do provide storage but this is screened from view and you do pass through another small camping area called The Bothy on the approach. You also pass through an area of the farm where there are a few commercial units but this in no way impeded or marred our enjoyment of the site. As others have said there is a very well appointed shower and toilet block. Kept immaculately clean and you are given a key to gain private access, this is just a short 5 minute stroll back up through the approach road. The shower is an additional £1 for 6 minutes of hot water. The roads this to site are incredibly narrow, and certainly not for the feint hearted, there are few passing places and most would not accommodate a car and caravan so you are left to hope that any oncoming traffic are only cars and that they will do the reversing! I would certainly heed the owners advice of timing your arrival to miss the lunchtime traffic visiting the local pub, 'The Linney', (which by the way is an excellent place to eat and not to be missed but remember to book in advance, it is incredibly popular). On the day we left the site a fellow caravanner was also leaving, we went first and when we reached the top of the narrow lane, before it meets up with the main road, we actually stopped, rang the other people waiting to come up to give them the all clear, and stopped any traffic from going down the lane until they too had reached the top, this worked well and certainly eased any traffic congestion. In summary, this is a quiet, peaceful, tranquil site, well looked after in lovely grounds, and with good facitlites and close to many touorist attractions and places to visit. If we are ever in the area again we would certainly return.

Peaceful Oasis!

Wonderfully peaceful and relaxing country views. Lots of space with good gravel road and hardstanding. TV reception and phone signal are both good. Lovely private lakes adjacent with abundant wildlife. There’s a dedicated immaculately presented shower and two loos in a small custom built block a little stroll away, with six minutes of hot water for a pound coin. We liked it so much that we are returning for a further stay this year, and recommend the site highly. The tucked away location does mean a mile or two of narrow lanes, and although there are some passing places, I’d say that it’s not really for novices. Having said that, if you avoid the lunchtime traffic for the local thatched tavern, you would be by unlucky if you needed to select reverse gear. Seasonal until the end of October, but offering year round storage and more.

Site deep in a valley

It was very difficult to find this Site and a lot of plastic greenhouses with broken sails on the terrain with various compagnies. Activity gave no rest. To shower we had to pay and that is was we as Dutch campers not used to.

Amazing Sunsets

Friendly welcome from the moment we arrived and we enjoyed every moment of our three night stay. As campsites go, this is an extremely well looked after site. Everything from the toilet and showers through to the ponds are in great condition. And the sunsets are some of the best we've ever seen in the UK. Its ideally located for an English Riviera experience. We visited Torbay, Paignton, Brixham and Dartmouth during our stay. There's no shortage of places to visit and things to do. Be mindful that this is a popular area, even outside of school holiday time, and roads and car parks were very busy. The local roads, especially around the site, are not for the faint of heart. They are only just a car width at best in many places. This includes from the point you turn off of St Marychurch Road into Connybear Lane and past the Linny (Pub) to the site. Keep you fingers crossed that you don't meet oncoming traffic especially if towing a caravan.

A great little site

We had 5 nights here not having visited the area for a long time. The site is pristine and the owners are so friendly and helpful, a first class detailed handout given to you on arrival and regular checks by the owners to make sure everything is ok. We used the local taxi service on several occasions and found them very friendly, reliable and reasonably priced. The final approach roads are a little narrow but breath in and you'll be ok!

Such a tranquil site, loved it.

We stayed here 2 weekends running when we were down to explore the area. Such a warm welcome by Helen and Jon, the pitches were all hardstanding and well spaced out and such beautiful surroundings. The set up on site is great and all facilities are very well maintained and clean. Even the toilet waste was easy and ideal set up. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this site. Some roads are narrow on approach so just do your research and get best access to site... But the time spent on such a tranquil site will be worth it. Thanks Helen and John for making our time on site so welcoming and peaceful.

A hidden gem CL

Our 10 day holiday staying at the Meadows CL was excellent :) The owner Helen met us at the entrance and walked down to the CL field to show us the pitched. All 5 hardstanding with room for the car beside and an awning on the grass. Great views from these spacious electric pitches. Water and Elsan within easy reach. There are a number of dustbins (emptied and new bags in daily) to allow for recycling. The welcome pack explains the split. The toilets and showers were currently closed for C19 safety (we were aware of this before booking). We had a water leak - Helen to the rescue with mop, bucket and towels. Thanks Helen :) Pub in walking distance. 10 minutes drive to Babbacombe. Best route (the typical area local roads are narrow) is provided on the website (http://meadowscaravansite.co.uk/) or contact Helen.
