Wonderful CL - would highly recommend!

Echoing others who have stayed here, it's a perfect CL in beautiful surroundings! We had a pitch next to the horses and opposite the lake, wonderful to sit relaxing in your caravan with the view! The owners are great, Jason even popped us in some (12!!!) eggs from their own chickens (we'd forgotten ours - eggs that is - not chickens!) and made sure we had everything we needed. Many thanks for a great stay and would highly recommend if you're ever in the area and needing a bolt hole away from it all.

wonderful site

Just had 6 nights at this wonderful cl. Lovely peaceful site with plenty of room . Owners Jason and Sophie extremely welcoming and helpful as were the people attending to the horses next to the site. Ideally situated to visit suffolk essex border area. Will definitely visit again when we are down that way Bill and Lin caravaners from liverpool

sunny weekend

This lovely little site is exactly what we look for when away for the weekend. Jason and Sophie could not have been more welcoming. We were alone on the site for the majority of our time there so could enjoy the beautiful setting in peace and quiet, taking advantage of the fabulous weather. There are a multitude of interesting and lovely places to visit, most with attractive pubs! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful Quiet Cl

We have just returned home after staying at Catley Cross for nine nights & had a wonderful relaxing time.There is plenty of space for 5 caravans & it is set in a very good location between Sudbury & Halstead. The lake setting is lovely & we went out in the rowing boat when there was no one fishing. There are lovely walks along the river near Sudbury & surrounding countryside. We were surprised how quiet the site was for the end of May; we were the only caravan there for most of our stay.

Lovely CL

A great CL! Loved every bit of our weekend stay here. The owners are lovely and are indeed as welcoming as the previous reviews suggest. It’s lovely to walk around the lake and see the fish and other wildlife. We were pitched with views of the horses, which my daughter loved too. A short distance from Halstead and Sudbury town if you need shopping, also a great farm shop a mile down the road where you can pick your own fruit if you wish. Booked to return already!

Brilliant CL site

We had a mini weekend break. Jason was extremely helpful and friendly. We pitched so that we had views of the lake and the horses. Our dog loved walking round the lake. The CL site is very spacious, it was easy to find the water, bins and Elsan point. There was no hurry for us to leave, we were told to take our time which was blissful as the weather was so good. I am reluctant to leave a review for fear that when we want to go again, and we will, it will be full !!! This is one of the best sites by far that we have been to. The site was about 4 miles from the town centre, and 4 miles in the opposite direction to Sudbury where I can highly recommend a visit to the Mill Hotel right by the river.

Long weekend

Arrived early 2018 after a very long wet spell and the field was very wet. This was not a problem for the owners. They setup me and my friends vans up on a hard standing area. Had a great couple of days fishing. Also went out and about taking in the local area. Owner Jason could not be more helpful and informative. Can't wait to get back in the better weather.

Wintery stay at The Paddocks

Extremely welcoming owners who treated us like friends rather than customers. Our children enjoyed feeding the fish down by the lake and a very exciting ride on a quad bike with Jason. Our daughter was able to help out at the stable yard looking after the horses which totally made her day! Beautiful scenery and CL site. Our dog Max had a great time dipping his toes in the lake and meeting the owners dog Cookie. We will definitely return!

Excellent CL in a beautiful setting

Really enjoyed our short weekend break. Extremely welcoming owners whom treated us as if we were friends coming to visit, rather than campers at their CL. 😀 Beautiful setting with ample space for playing and walking. Children had a lovely time along with adults!

Great CL

We stayed here for a weekend in July in our caravan. Only an hour away from home but we wanted somewhere not too far to check the brakes out after being changed. Directions were spot on. Lovely spacious site. Jason popped by to check if we were ok and gave us some suggestions for pubs and places to eat if we required. He also apologised for the lake not looking it's best due to maintenance being carried out. It was still a nice place to have a stroll round even though the lake wasn't full. Ideal base to explore Sudbury, Colchester and surrounding area. A great site that I'm sure we will use again. If you want hard standing fully serviced pitches then this isn't the site for you. If like us, all you require is a water point, hook up and a CDP and don't mind grass pitches then this is a great CL. The only downside for some may be lack of mobile coverage ( O2) but had no problems with TV signal.
