A Quiet Site on The Three Peaks Way

The site is located and in view of Pen-y-gent which whilst we attempted were unable to complete !! Nether the less there are a number of less strenuous circular walks from the site which are well worth trying all in the region of 5 to 6 miles. A drive to Malham Cove should not be missed but do the walk in a clockwise direction finishing with Goredale Scar and Janets Foss since the ***** steps up to the top of the cove are a devil on the knees if going down. The little van at the bridge by Goredale Scar does reasonably priced bacon or sausage rolls as well as hot drinks. We noticed that the approach to the site via the Stainforth to Horton road took you over a couple of small bridges set a right angles to each other and whilst we were OK we did encounter some large lorries coming in the opposite direction over these bridges whilst we weren't towing and had to take avoiding action by driving into the pub car park. Had the caravan been connected it would have been a differnet story since the road is very narrow. We left the site in the direction of Ribblehead then back via Ingleton. If you are towing it may be worth having a look at the two bridges at Horton Village on Google Maps Street view and make your own mind up. This was a very restful break we were made to feel very welcome and the facilities were first rate. Can recommend this site it is brilliant.
