Peaceful basic site
The site is easy to find following the directions in the book. It is a field with an open aspect and basic facilities. Although hardstandings are advertised, these were not apparent. We were confused about how to pay until one of the other campers pointed out a small notice pinned up near the tap. The farm house is not the obvious one, but is half a mile up the road and difficult to find. We did manage to find the farm eventually and paid the owner who said, "Thanks". At £16 a night, it seemed a little overpriced for the standard offered.
We stayed two nights and Newark is well worth a visit, as is the Workhouse near Southwell (National Trust). If you're into clocks, there is also a Museum of Timekeeping at Upton. Useful stopping off point on a northward journey, close to the A1.
