Enjoyable bank holiday break

Stayed for three nights over the first May Day bank holiday, decided on this site as it was very near the Monsal bike trail, pitches are hard standing and almost level so no problem, one easy to get to fresh water tap, grey waste emptying point, no problem, Elsan point no problem, some slight noise from the calf shed that is situated to the rear of the pitches, but it is a working farm after all, so not a problem.uninterrupted views, phone and tv signal good, friendly owners just let you get on with your stay. Can we recommend this site Yes without hesitation

Didn’t see a soul and the smell of calves was shocking.

The grass was about 8 inches long and unkept. The waste bins stunk. Behind vans were barbs housing calves who stunk and bawled every morning. Tractors moving early morning behind vans . One van is permanently there , the guy is a lorry driver. Didn’t see a single person the whole 4 days. Could be lovely but needs a good sort out . On the site and bin and waste area .

Outstanding views, Peace and Quiet

A fantastic 3 days spent in a fantastic peaceful location. Yes the facilities are basic and the owners leave you alone (great in my book!) The location for walking and cycling is great, Buxton just a few miles away for any extras you may need, for the relaxing Peak District visit superb! Would certainly return with our 3 dogs. Thanks

Beautiful site

Just got back from a last minute 2 night stay here and what a lovely site, very quiet, your left alone to enjoy your stay and it's perfectly situated for lots of walks straight out the farm gate. Perfect if you like a basic site without all the flashy extras, already booked to go back

Beautiful site in stunning setting

Love this site. We had a very wet and windy visit just after storm Doris but the site was sheltered to the rear. Facilities very basic and rough n ready but adequate. Already booked for bank holiday weekend. Walks and local towns easy access

what a shame

Having spent a long weekend on this site, on arrival the first thing noticable was the amount of sheep droppings covering the approach road, this was most unpleasent when walking off the site. Pitches ok, not level, but clean, the waste facilities were grim, maggots and other bugs in abounance. the views are good and access to local area good, unfortunitly we will not be revisiting, what a shame.

LET DOWN BY LACK OF CARE

We've just come back from a long weekend at this CL and unfortunately have to report it was the poorest one so far (admittedly it is our first year so have only stayed at about 10 CLs so far). It's a shame because the site is in a good location with superb views. The grass was too long and because it rained heavily was sodden so that things just got wetter and more messy than they should, including the small dog! The toilet disposal was a bit unpleasant thanks to maggots around the top of the dirty cess tank. The refuse bins consist of several large steel drums with wooden covers, which were pretty full indicating that they'd not been emptied for awhile. There was also no recycling. Having not seen any representative of the site for 3 days we went to pay and the teenage girl we spoke to didn't even know how much the pitch fee was (I don't think anyone more senior was available). The whole CL lacks care, which is a real shame because it could be excellent.

Fantastic location

Three of stayed here during August for 4 nights while visiting our son who is at Uni at Buxton. The site is perfectly situated for the Monsal Trail which is terrific. The site is very quiet and peaceful. The pitches are relatively small but adequate. My only gripe is that the cut grass is not gathered and was quite long. Reading other reviews from other sites suggests that this is a common moan amongst members.  Other than that I would highly recommend the site for anyone looking for a central point from which to visit the many local attractions.

Gem of a site

We stayed at this site at Easter, the weather wasn't great but we were on hard standing so no trouble getting on & off site, the views from the site are fantastic, Buxton is within a short distance, we had a great time watching the lambs in the field in front of us, they were very entertaining
