Ease of arrival/welcome

Lovely!

I had all communication through email, which is great as I have a terrible memory, so I was able to refer to details. I was told that pitches aren't allocated so to just arrive and pitch where I want. I found a little corner under the trees...lovely if it's not, but it turned out to be the worst weather I've encountered while on any CL..murphys law lol Parking under the trees meant my tv reception wasn't good for most channels...but a little bit of jiggery pokery and a longer lead meant I had enough for a couple of nights. I walked with the dog for the hour+ long walk to the waterfront inn where I had a lovely Lunch, a couple of glasses of wine. There is a private road beside the site, this is accessed by people on foot walking their dogs, horseriders and people driving down to feed horses, deliver post and farming. There is also the train that passes and this is the only reason I didn't score a 5 for tranquillity.. .it doesn't make any odds to the surroundings (beautiful). All the comings and goings made things a little more interesting. Caroline is charming...she came and made sure I was happy with everything..and i reiterated others views on this CL...lovely! To walk the canal, the easiest route I found was leave the site to the road, turn right and keep walking until you find the bridge..down the slope onto the canal and hey presto. (Left if you want the waterfront bistro...a hickledy pickledy place, food is amazing..service very friendly) I'm not sure I'll come back as I like to visit new areas as much as possible..but I'm drawn to canals..and there's not many sites close to those..so I dare say I probably will be.
