A decent CL with a great location.

We arrived the day after storm Babet for a weeks stay so wasn't surprised when a very soggy field greeted us. However the field has underlying matting which prevented it from being churned up and gave us easy access to the hard standing pitch. We were greeted warmly by Julie upon and seeing as we were the only unit booked in for the week, we could take any pitch we liked, so we picked pitch 1 located at the top of the field. We thought that this would remain the drier of the pitches as the rest were located on a gentle slope down the field. As other have said you have EHU and water on each pitch and were told to run grey water into the adjoining field. Fairly spacious pitches which do slope so you may need levelling blocks, although our self levelling system didn't have a problem. Views were good although I wouldn't class them as beautiful. The field is located next to the A174 so there is some road noise, although it was never an issue at night. As a bonus though it provided us with easy access to all areas we wanted to visit. Yes the chemical waste disposal is a good walk away but don't let that deter you from booking this CL, it's just a minor inconvenience especially in poor weather. If we decided to visit the area again then we would have no hesitation in using this CL again.

Nice site

My wife and I stayed here for five nights in our motorhome with our dog. The pitches are well spaced with a tap and electricity to each pitch grey water can go into the fence line. The toilet disposal is quite a hike through the yard where tree surgeons work from across the front of the holiday cottages then past the b and b house and round the back of that. Seriously you could get one installed nearer than that. However when you get to it it is a nice modern clean unit. The site is clean and tidy and the grass kept neat. It is adjacent to the main road but it is quiet at night. The bus service from outside the gates is excellent. A footpath across the road leads to a coastal path with stunning views across the coast and countryside. All in all a nice site perhaps slightly overpriced as you pay for metered electricity over a certain amount. This didn’t affect us but may do in winter with heaters on. Would I go again…..yes.

Disappointing

Booked a week on this CL being close to many attractions such as Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn and the North York moors. Received a warm welcome from the owner who advised us of the facilities. The grass was a quite long when we arrived but the owner said the weather had been very wet, and it was cut during our stay. The hardstanding pitches are well spaced out and each has electric hookup, water and grey water drain. Unfortunately, after setting up and the erecting awning, we found that the grey water drain on our pitch was blocked and was flooding the area behind the caravan. It had clearly been blocked for some time as the ground was a waterlogged, rather smelly, bog. We reported it immediately to the owner who said she would call drain man but this did not happen, meaning we had to empty our wastemaster at the grey waste drain at the farm building 100m away and meant lifting a full wastemaster 18 inches off the ground - not helpful for a 74 year old with an arthritic back & hips ! The other issue we had was the chemical emptying point was approx 200m away behind the owners house. Although our cassette has wheels, it is still too far from the CL field. Unfortunately, because of the issues above, we left a couple of days early and probably won’t return.

Lovely CL with access to local transport and surrounding area

We stayed here for 4 nights over Easter. Easy enough to get to from the North West- approx 3.5 hour drive. When we arrived there had been torrential rain for most of our journey. The CL is located on a field behind farm buildings and a B & B run by the same people. The field slopes downwards and the 5 pitches slope down towards the end of the field. We were on pitch 4, so quite near the bottom. It was a bit hairy reversing in due to the mud but we managed it. The next day a motorhome did get stuck in the mud but the owners were there to assist and they but large grip pads down to ease the issue. The pitches all seemed sloping, we needed to use our levelers on our near side wheels-made something of a difference. Your bollard includes, fresh water, EHE and a grey waste drain. We noted that the black waste disposal was quite a walk from the CL field, around the back of the B&B building. The area itself is lovely and there are amazing views from your pitch. A nice pub across the road a farm shop just up the road to the right sells basic requisites plus has a lovely cafe. There is a good bus service with bus stops just outside the site, they run towards Whitby or Middlesborough. We found the service excellent and usually on time, only once was one really late and then that broke down - but it was soon resolved. Via the bus we managed to visit Runswick Bay, Staithes, Saltburn, Marske and Redcar - the beaches in this area are amazing! Not too busy when we visited but would expect them to be heaving in the summer months. Plus there are quite a few quaint and interesting pubs to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - our first time venturing to this part of the UK - so glad we did, absolutely beautiful!
