The best location on the CL network

Since we found the Cl 10 years ago we have done the 1000 mile round trip twice a year to this wonderful location. We have visited hundreds of sites across the UK and nothing else comes close. It is a grass field with no electric! ( but who needs more?) But the beach is only a few steps away, a clean protected beach ideal for children and great sand for building sandcastles, you can keep an eye on them from the caravan. The backdrop to the beach is the bay, safe and sheltered, ideal for swimming, canoes, paddle boards etc. the bay is protected by numerous small rocky islands and other beaches. In the background again is the Sound of Sleet, you can watch the boats and ferries visiting Mallaig. Across the sound is the Isle of Skye with the Cuillin mountains to the north west and the small isles of Eigg and Rum to the west. Looking inland are the mountains surrounding Loch Morar and Traigh golf course, a spectacular 9 hole course. Backing the site is a wood which protects from the prevailing winds. There is plenty of space for 5 outfits, with each having open beach front position and space behind for field games. The highlight for most is sunset which sinks over the horizon from Rum to Skye and is most spectacular. There is a shop and cafe in Arisaig (2 miles) and more in Mallaig (6 miles). Major services are in Fort William about 50 minutes drive away. Boat trips to Skye and the small isles can be taken from Arisaig and Mallaig. The Jacobite steam train can be heard in the distance as it passes by in the summer months. No matter how long you book for you’ll wish you could stay longer. Yes it may not be the cheapest site on the network but it is the best value for enjoyment and relaxation. Book well in advance!
