A great site

Stayed on this site with our two friends, were made very welcome by the owners, pitches are of a good size, site is well kept with the added bonus of a toilet block, kept spotlessly clean. A good base for touring the area.

Sorry we couldn't stay

Arrived to a lovely welcome from Camilla and proceeded to select our pitch. Unfortunately I then got bitten by a horsefly to which I have severe reaction, outcome being we had to leave. My husband visited the facilities before we left and said they were immaculate. Camilla was very understanding and did all she could to help. We will return next year.

Thankyou Very Much

Well its a week now since we have returned from our holiday and our recommendations are strong in respect of this lovely CL. The Farmhouse is neat and well maintained and the CL site is immaculate with short grass, super clean amenities in the form of a shower and toilet block ( which yes costs ?1 for 10 minutes but so what....two can shower in that time) and an excellent geographic location only 5 minutes from Boscastle and 10 or so to Tintagel. Easy to find we would certainly revisit as the area is gorgeous. Try it, you will be very happy. Joe and Andy?

Lovely site

Spent a week on this site over Easter. Very easy to find and good links to the North coast. Well maintained with pleasant views including sea views.  Shower and toilet which were all very clean and well stocked, although I didn't try the shower. This is a lovely site and the owners very pleasant. I would recommend the site and would use again should I go back to this area. The Cherry on the top was that it is very good value

Amazing Little Find

Booked for four nights. Is central to many good areas like Port Issac(Doc Martin village), Boscastle and Tintagel. Lovely people on the site who have only recently taken it over in the past month. Excellent facilities of x2 toilets(large and clean) and x1 shower(large) which would easily accomodate a family to shower together. Is somewhat expensive at £1 per shower, but you do get 10mins.As I have a teenage daughter with long hair to wash...this is ample time even for her , without the worry of it running out. Clean and the best I have seen at a CL...ever. Excellent facilities for recycling. Great list of local interesting places to visit/pubs etc.on a noticeboard, which was very useful, including local supermarkets. The ground does slope and we were in the deep end! Just a little soft underfoot really, and blocks were essential for levelling, but there are some left on site for people to use, if required.Well done Venn Down Farmhouse.

Lovely CL!

Have just returned from 3 nights at Venn Down at the end of a 2 week tour of North Devon & Cornwall, and although the weather could have been way better this site more than made up for it. The owner was out when we arrived but had left a personalised message for us on the front door giving some good advice about pitching. The views down to the sea were beautiful (albeit when the weather allowed you to see it!!) The facilities were excellent and yes £1 may seem a lot for a shower but as you get 10 minutes my husband and I decided to bring back some romance into our lives(!) (as well as saving money!) by sharing!! We would love to return here again.

Lovely little gem of a site

We stayed here for a week at the end of July. It is a lovely liitle gem of a site, with good clean facilities. We were on pitch 8 next to the paddock and were greeted by the horses every morning and also had distant views of the sea. thought the showers were a little expensive but the site is such a bargain anyway it hardly matters. Met some lovely people and had a fantastic holiday visiting Trebarwith Strand, Port Isaac, Tintagel and Widemouth Bay. Can't wait to visit again.

May 2013

We visited this site at Half term in May 2013. It was beautiful. Really peaceful, space to play (8yr old son) and an excellent location. £12 a night is a brilliant price and we will definitely be returning. Go to the pub at the clifftop at Trebarwith Strand. Stunning. We had a fantastic holiday!

Peaceful

We arrived on site in a mist, low cloud to be exact, so were a little unsure of what the surrounding area was like. We weren't disappointed. We chose pitch 7 as suggested by another reviewer but found that being at the top of the paddock we felt very exposed when the winds were gusting at about 50mph so moved down to pitch 1 the next day. This too has a distant view of the sea, is closer to the amenities and a lot more sheltered. ok it is at the bottom of the field, but it is so well drained that it posed not problem. We were given a warm welcome from Di and I must say that the shower and toilets were kept nice and clean. The only downside is that the shower room is not heated although spotlessly clean. I mentioned to them that they could do with a folding chair in there to assist the slightly infirm whilst dressing. It would also give you somewhere to put your bits and pieces other than hanging them on the back of the door. The shower was also quite expensive, £1 for 10minutes, which I actually found too long a time. I would rather it was 50p for 5mins and then you would have the choice of taking longer if you wanted. All in all a lovely spot and well worth visiting. You have to drive to the pub in Boscastle unfortunately, it is not within walking distance, but that didn't spoil our very cold, windy, wet May fortnight. We will be back.

Easter 2013

This is all that everyone else has said about the site. Our five day stay unfortunately coincided with the unseasonably cold weather but at least it was dry for the entire stay so it did not keep us confined to the caravan. You will definitely need levelling blocks for both caravan and motor-van combos but the effort of using these is well worth the trouble. Pitches are on grass but are exceptionally well drained with plenty of electric hook-up points to give various permutations when pitching. The only things that I would add to other member's comments is that the entrance is not marked with the usual Club CL sign so follow the instructions provided to the letter, and those with longer outfits will need to take care and swing wide when accessing but this is not a problem. We particularly enjoyed visiting Boscastle and I can recommend the walk along the coast path for the views alone - very picturesque. Another site that we will definitely return to if in the area.
