We have just come away from a four-night stay at Welltrough Hall Farm CL site and cannot praise it highly enough. As much as I am not a fan of the phrase, in this case 'what's not to like' is entirely appropriate! The site is situated on a slight ridge with an unobstructed view of the northern end of the Peak National Park to the east, and the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank about a mile away to the west, which was the main reason for our visit to Welltrough Hall Farm as we were attending an event at Jodrell Bank. It was eerie to look out of the van and notice that the telescope was in a different position every time! The peace and tranquillity of the location was really appreciated after a long drive north through the Midlands. For stargazers like me, the site is far enough away from any major sources of light pollution for it not to be a problem. I can't control the weather, though! The CL site is very secure, having its own gate in addition to the main farm gate. It is also spotless and we felt spoilt by having a fully serviced pitch - no tramping across muddy fields with Aquarolls and grey water tanks! We liked the coin slot electricity meter, which was reasonably priced for our short stay, but also ensured we didn't take our electricity use for granted. As others have said, the pitches are immaculate and very well looked after with plenty of space between them. Being an adult-only site is a bonus, too. We have nothing against children, really, having worked with the blighters and had two of our own, but we've been there, done that, and worn the sticky t-shirts. Enough! The site is situated within easy reach of the M6 and is perfectly located for visiting places such as Chester and Manchester (tram from Altrincham, within easy reach). From the outset communication with Nick was excellent, with informative emails and messages. When we found at short notice that we would need to book an extra night this was dealt with both quickly and courteously. This was our first visit to Welltrough Hall Farm, but honestly won't be our last. We have friends in the area and will be attending future events at Jodrell Bank, so we look forward to any opportunity to return soon.
