Rolling countryside with Masham Moor in the distance.

Warm welcome, well maintained site with a lush grass that most householders would be proud of. The wifi reception is amazing for such an isolated rural setting. If you wish for peace, quiet and tranquillity in beautiful surroundings I think it would be hard to find better.

Great Location

We stayed at West Leas Farm for eleven nights in June, we had originally planned to stay for a week but liked the site and area so much we stayed longer. This has everything you want from a CL, peace and quiet, very warm welcome and loads of interesting places to visit nearby, Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey are both must visit spots and the walking in Nidderdale is stunning. Good CL

Staying here in August, we found the site and facilities well maintained. Set in a lovely location for touring this area, and well away from the road. The farm lane, which leads up to and past the CL, carries on up to the holiday cottages and the farm, there are however no speed restriction signs on the lane until after the CL and some cars going to and from the holiday cottages did go rather fast past the CL. There was plenty of room for five caravans, and there are no restrictions on where you site your caravan. The height of the hedge along the other side of the lane sadly blocked out a wonderful view, that said this was a fantastic place to stay, the owner was very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dog walking was not a problem as there is a public footpath, through a nearby field and there was also a dog waste bin at the gateway to the path.

Lovely "No Fuss " site

Follow instructions to site carefully ... they worked ... otherwise you will be on roads that are narrow for a bicycle!! Site sloped but pitch locations relaxed so it was easy to get level. Grass well mowed. Some great locations nearby... Ripon, Fountains Abbey, BrimhamRocks etc .. we did them all by bicycle. The site is rural ... Great. Local shop one mile. We will be back.

Another Gem

Just spent the last weekend at this lovely site. We love this area, its great for walking and sightseeing. The site is slightly sloping so leveling is advisable. Very well organised, recycling on site adequate water taps and electric hook up points, free and easy pitching. Beautiful views, nice dark skies, very quiet and relaxing. What more could you want.

Great place

Loved this CL. also loved the pub/restaurant in Galphay village. It can be difficult to find so we've saved it as favourite on the sat nav.

Peaceful and lovely

Our first stay on a CL and we loved it at West Leas Farm. Friendly welcome from Catherine and all we needed for a restful three night stay. We struggled a bit with the local footpaths but enjoyed a long walk into (eventually) Ripon. Nice pub there on the river called the Water Rat. Back at the site, all quiet with lovely open views across cow fields, fab sunsets. Free wifi and only a mile to the nearest shop for basics and newspapers. Tried the Galphy Arms and the pub in Kirkby Malzead. Both friendly though limited opening hours. Enjoyed an afternoon in Masham with a pint in the White Bear. The sun shone all weekend. Thanks!

Lovely West Leas

We have just spent 6 days over Easter at West Leas Farm and we thought it was wonderful. The open views of the countryside, the friendly welcome, and, of course, perfect weather all contributed to a great stay. We have 2 Border Collies and they loved the local walks and, further afield, Brimham Rocks. We also had great wifi and TV reception on a pitch at the top of the field. The new lambs, calves and the birdsong added to the "getting away from it all" feeling. We would like to return in the summer or Autumn to experience another season at this great CL.

White Rose county triumphs again!

As an ex-pat Yorkshireman who cannot afford to return there for my retirement, I have to content myself with visiting as often as possible. Thank goodness for the caravan and sites like this. I visited for the last weekend in September so that I could attend the sheep fair in Masham. Mrs Vernon busied herself with wool, textiles, spinning wheels and other creative activity. I visited Masham's 2 breweries. Mrs Vernon had to drive home! West Leas is a superb site. Access is pretty straight forward and the slight gradient on the site only requires blocks if you choose the highest point on the field. We did... but the view up there is particularly splendid and worth the extra levelling. The WiFi signal is at its worst where the view is at its best... but still sufficient for surfing on a tablet and included in the pitch fee. Phone signal is not great; O2 is ok for SMS and pretty good for phone calls. The 3 signal was non existent. I did not try he TV signal (why look at TV when you can look through the window?) but radio 4 was fine. Amenities were good. Quite strict rules about sorting the rubbish... but a gardening glove is a useful tool in putting integrated trash into 5 different bins. We're told that sorting our rubbish saves the planet and the Yorkshire bits are certainly worth saving. Kirby Malzeard is very pretty and the fish and chip shop was very accommodating (fish with no batter for the gluten-free diet) for us celiacs. Local shop has a good supply of basics. Recommendations for day's out? How long have you got? We went with Masham in mind - and were not disappointed. Unexpected gem was a walk in Hackfall woods; a bizarre mix of C18th follies and ponds set in a fairly steep valley. Would I go to West Leas again. Yep! P.S. Very helpful host lent me an extra 25m of hook-up cable so that I could have the best view on the farm. Thanks!!

the perfect CL?

A lovely CL with great views all around, plenty of footpath walks (find the 'Crackpots' trail!). Peaceful apart from curlews all around, lapwings and oystercatchers! Local shops are good esp butcher plus excellent fish & chip shop. Owners very friendly and helpful.
