Delightful Spot

We had a lovely 3 nights here last week. It is a true CL adhering to the principals and ethos of CL network - it is charming, simple and basic. The owner, Sabine, was very welcoming, friendly and helpful- a pleasure to meet. Please read reviews prior to zscale as these are more accurate and true to the site. 1. We had no traffic travel problems back and forth to Hayling, but any tourist spot in August would be challenging. 2. Main road to CL is busy, but knew that from reading previous reviews so no surprise. 3. Previous reviewer advice re accessing site by going down to roundabout is spot on hence you do not clip the kerb and do go across a perfectly adequate dropped kerb. 4. There are lots of rabbits and rescue horses which are lovely to watch and again no surprise as you are in a field. 5. CDP has slight trickle from tap screw point, struggle to get over our clothes. 6. It is central leccie point, but this is a 5 unit site so minimal vehicles travel over your cable unless you unfortunately are staying with someone training to be a formula one driver. 7. Lots on Hayling- nice farm shop, pubs, THREE blue flag beaches with water sports, golf course, cycle to pedestrian ferry across to Portsmouth/Southsea. Three nights too short to do and see everything. All in all really enjoyed our stay and think it is a smashing little CL.

Ease of arrival/welcome

Spent a week here in mid-August. Wish we hadn't.

I wouldn't bother even trying to get to Hayling Island. It takes absolutely forever to get to it because of the horrendous traffic on and around the A27. It took about 2 hours to get around the Chichester bypass on arrival day (a Monday) and well over an hour on a couple of other days just getting out of Havant 2.5 miles away when we went to the supermarket and Stansted House & Park. Access to the site is difficult because it is a sharp right turn on a left-hand bend across an almost continuous stream of traffic and then up and over a steep kerb. The owner needs to get the council to drop the kerb as that would make it slightly easier. As another reviewer has suggested you could continue into the town, go round the roundabout and then come back on yourself. Make sure you don't leave the gate open for more than a few seconds once you've driven through it or the owner will castigate you for putting her horses at risk of getting onto the main road. Difficult to see how they could since they're all in secure paddocks. The site itself is a level field surrounded by said horse paddocks. The 16A hookups are in the middle of the field so vehicles run over your cable. The tap at the chemiloo needs fixing as it leaks down the hose and all over your trousers & shoes and the loo itself is very basic. It's very noisy from the constant traffic with fairly frequent emergency vehicles attending the largely-aged population. Occasionally there are loudly-shouting horsey people instructing on the manège and in the paddocks. The site is infested with rabbits that poo all over the place. There's nothing much to do on the island. There's access to an old railway line for walking/cycling and quite a lot of not very good beach. Because of the traffic issues, visiting anywhere else is very frustrating. At £17pn it's overpriced and I wouldn't recommend.

Happy dog walkers/

A great 2 weeks in June/July 2021 with our caravan on this flat lawned site. A very friendly owner who had time to stop and talk The bus stop just outside the drive made it easy to travel to Portsmouth and Bognor Regis without using the car. Just next to the site was the Hayling Billy Trail very popular for walking along the pebble beach and waterside. Sometimes there were wind surfers when the tide was in. Definitely to be recommended for a peaceful stay. Even the rabbits like it there.

Peaceful C.L in a great location

3 night stay in April. Sabine was welcoming and helpful, with great advice for the local area .Site is great for walking the Hayling Billy Trail.,and with a bus stop just outside the gate , going to havant ,(north )and Hayling island beaches (south) makes visiting the area very easy. The field is large and flat with horses and lots of rabbits to watch in next field . Just down to road is farm shop with great selection of veg , fruit , fresh eggs and meat, large carpark , was easy to park our motorhome. The road outside is quite busy and access quite tight in for large outfits or motorhomes,so our advice would be to keep driving another mile & a half and go round the roundabout and drive onto the site using a left turn, which was so easy. Now that this site has appeared in club mag, we are sure it will get busy , because it is a lovely site and we will be back , Thank you sabine and recoomend to all.

Easy laid back site

Sabine was welcoming and helpful in all comms. Unfortunately (as we booked last minute) she was only able to squeeze us in for the one night but silly us. No hard standing but field was flat and dry and horses and associated activities was a bonus.

Lovely site

Stayed for 3 nights. Site is great for walking the Hayling Billy Trail. Nice food at the Yew Tree Inn which is within walking distance along a footpath. Sabine is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Will return again next year.

Lovely site

We had a lovely two night stay here in our motorhome. Nice spacious site with views of the horses grazing. Owner friendly and helpful. Direct access to the Hayling Billy which is perfect for walking in either direction with lovely sea views too. Road outside is quite busy and access quite tight in our large motorhome but overall a great CL and we would definitely recommend.

A much improved site

Vast improvements have been made at this site. For a start the electrics have had a complete overhaul and the pitches are large with well mown grass. If needed it now boasts a toilet also well maintained. The new owner has certainly made an extremely pleasant adult only caravan site. Bus from just outside the gate every 15minutes to Havant, peace and quiet and great cycle or walking along by Langstone harbour which is accessible from the site. Not sure how it could be any better. Hats off to Sabine Well done.

Lovely

We have had 3 lovely days here despite the mixed bag of weather. The warden is very friendly and helpful, the pitches are well-drained and level, and it’s a great location. Perfect for dogs especially if they like the water! All for £14 so we will back. Take care when arriving, the entrance to the site is a right turn on a sharp left bend.
